FAC Weekly Update 2025-03-24-Engagement and Support
Dear Members and Advocates,
Engagement is our goal for this coming week. Our new website is not just a design change. As we continue to build out our site, you will find new tools, features and content that will emphasize our commitment to community, belonging and involvement. Our goal is to not just be more visible to our members, but to the general public as well.
We recognize that many individuals feel isolated due to past offenses, leading to a sense of not fitting in. We want to remind our members that FAC is a supportive family that offers encouragement and hope. We urge you not to alienate yourself; there are committees and activities where you can find acceptance, support and be critically helpful to our cause. Whether a family member, veteran, woman forced to register, elderly, or LGBTQ+, we have support groups for you. Building self-confidence and a sense of belonging are crucial steps toward personal growth and societal change.
We are also an active family, fighting to change law. As you can see from our Legislative Committee update, we’ve been extremely busy this legislative session. Lawmakers are currently making decisions that could significantly impact our community and we finally have a seat at the table to help influence these decisions. To ensure our voices are heard, we need members to engage with their legislators.
We are also a vocal community, fighting to change the narrative. In the coming weeks we will be running several ads, such as this one, on YouTube shorts and social media. Changing public perception involves engaging the public. Communicating to our members is important, but it’s sometimes preaching to the choir. By engaging the public we will educate those who are unaware of the facts and how ineffective the registry is.
So what’s next? To keep on top of our posts and updates you can sign up to receive email alerts when something new is posted. Go to our site, click on a headline, and at the bottom of the post you will see an option to “Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.” If you don’t have email access, encourage a family member to subscribe and share information.
Next; become involved. Whether you do so for a sense of belonging or to help us aggressively make change, we need you! All our committees could use more active members. For this week, our immediate need is for anyone with experience in Google Ads and social media marketing. We will be running our public awareness ads and need a couple of people to help us place and optimize them. If you have these skills, please send an email to [email protected] today.
Don’t just wait for change, be a part of the change!
Sincerely,
The Florida Action Committee
