FAC Welcomes Trolls and Vigilantes – With One Condition
At the Florida Action Committee, we know the issues we address are controversial, emotional, and often misunderstood. Lately, we’ve seen an increase in comments from online vigilantes, trolls, and critics who oppose our work.
So let us be clear: we welcome you! This is your forum too – so long as you follow our Code of Conduct.
This isn’t just a site for people who agree with us. It’s a space for education, dialogue, and debate. If you disagree with our mission or message, speak up—but do so respectfully and constructively. Our comment and moderation policy doesn’t exist to silence opposition; it exists to keep the conversation civil and meaningful.
This is your opportunity to challenge, question, and engage with the facts. And it’s our opportunity to respond, educate, and—maybe—find some common ground.
Clearly, in doing what we do, we don’t shy away from controversy. We just insist on civility.
So let’s talk…

Someone suggested that trolls should have their own channel. Indeed they do: they have a disquis channel, a discord channel, a underground and dark web channel or two out there and they even have one on the dunning-kruger effect which they claim clearly indicates my issue because they cannot come to terms with the fact that we may absolutely deserve to live even though they would have us all dead knowing nothing or little or nothing about our cases.
@Norman
There is a group one city over from me that has bumper stickers on the back windshields of their pickup trucks that read “Kill your local sex offender”. Was funny I was sitting right behind one waiting at a red light reading it and laughing internally that they did not know who was right behind them.
Of course, since my crime was decades ago, I do not consider myself a sex-offender, because that portrays that I am actively offending, which has not happened in over 35 years. Does someone who murdered someone 40 years ago still considered to be a murderer? Some think so but they seem to get a pass, but we by some’s opinions, will never be free from our past.
Sex offender is always sex offender
No it’s or but’s

That’s a good idea Derek… They should have a separate channel.
Sometimes survivors and their families recount their experiences here and share how those experiences have shaped their views.
Other times, total strangers come here to randomly accuse individual members of criminal activity or poor character.
You can guess which of these is more constructive.
I entertain trolls on my platform. See my signature below. Almost never are they honest, sincere, and high-minded though they pretend to be. Nevertheless, each time I give them an opportunity, one shot or so I’ll debate them back and forth and if they are willing to consider that they may be wrong and that there may be reasons to think otherwise, I will entertain it. But recently I’ve started blocking people who are simply there to harass or call names
As a person eho spent YEARS taking trolls, vigilantes, and other assorted numbskulls on head on, let me be the first to say this is a terrible idea.
These folks have NEVER BEEN sincere about having a dialogue. They simply want the right to say you are all scum and deserve to suffer and die. The intent is to scare us into silence.
If you want to have a discussion with these thugs, then at the leaast, make a designated “shark tank” spot and hey can go there and piss and moan about us to their hearts’ content, but I think allowing the trolls to make their inane posts on every subject will only drive people away, which is also something they want.
I agree with you, Derek. The main purpose of a troll is to cause some type of negative emotional reaction. They do not come to have a mature dialog or debate. Their only position and mission is to stir the pot with immature name calling etc. I personally do not engage in conversation with them. I just dimply ingnore them. 99.9% of the time they don’t want hear what we have to say, they just want their immature, lack of knowledge, opinion heard. I could engage with facts, however and again, they don’t want to hear it. They have read the facts themselves and that is what provokes them to reply with trolling comments. So I agree, allowing the trolls to comment is a slippery slope. It hasn’t silenced me overall but I choose to ignore them, so in essence there is silence. I also agree and the point that it could push people away from FAC and discourage their efforts.
Funny coming from someone who is fond of death threats and “properly shaming” critics. Yes, we have the receipts.
@Derek
And there are some registrants on here who will get discouraged and leave F.A.C, over the harassment.
No one but F.A.C can run me off (If I violated a rule or something) but it does get annoying that a bunch of high school acting people come on here to make us feel worse than we already are.
For me, I have walked through so much fire in my lifetime, not even a grizzly bear charging at me would worry me (Mostly because I probably do not taste good and would get spit out LOL)

If it was up to me, I’d give the trolls no quarter here. I used to have some fun taking on these weak, pathetic, low IQ scumbags, but after a while it was like replaying an easy game repeatedly that lacked a challenge and it got boring.
At least in the old days of the Internet, back when there was a debate site called “sexcriminals.com” there was some actual back-and-forth with substance. Those of us who’ve been around a decade or more probably remember the then-infamous “Valigator” (Valerie Parkhurst of Broward County FL). Annoying piece of work she was, but at least she offered more than lame memes and “die-p-word-die” comments. Today’s trolls can’t actually debate or do research; they make Valigator look like a Rhodes Scholar.These trolls don’t have any talking points other than “die-p-word-die”. It is funny to get the rare troll who actually tries to use stats only to see them fall flat on their faces. Most, however, rely on tired memes and buzzwords because they can’t think or write anything on their own.
I stand by my statement that FAC should delete troll comments. I don’t look at FAC as a “debate me, bro” site.
PS: I kept my receipts, too.
@Derek
I do not like it either but what can we do? Sadly, some F.A.C members could potentially leave the site over this and that is what the trolls want, to shut F.A.C down. And some that donate on here may no longer want to donate due to the harassment.
Since I am not a paid member, the only influence I have is making posts and getting the conversations going. Other than on F.A.C, the only other groups I have to talk to about our situation is while sitting in the registration office with a room full of other registered citizens waiting their turn to register.
Most of them are pretty chill but occasionally a verbal fight will break out between the registrant and the Sheriff’s employee when the registered person has to show off and yell at the clerk, like it was their fault the registrant had to register.
