Florida proposes another law named after a child victim

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier on Tuesday announced that he will propose legislation aimed at eliminating judicial discretion in cases involving convicted sexual offenders and violent criminals who remain free on bond following a guilty verdict.

The proposal, known as Missy’s Law, is named after five-year-old Missy Mogle, who was killed last month in Tallahassee by her stepfather, Daniel Spencer, after he had been adjudicated guilty of traveling to meet a minor.

So don’t hate me. I agree with the attorney general in this case. When the judge, yes no jury on advice of council, found me guilty base on the word “intent” in the statute there was no “out on bond” I traded the 3-piece suit for a two-piece jail suit and then like a dope. I took a plea at sentencing. My offense like so many on here predate the death sentence er ah the Registry.

The registry fails again and is still winless in preventing crime. In this situation the perpetrator being on the registry or not wouid not have saved that poor little girl. And in this case we are legislating to the exception and not the rule. More emotion driven law making that has been destroying the justice system from the inside out for decades. May the victim here rest in peace.

If they named the laws/bills after child victims of drugs, maybe the law would have some teeth. Yet, it’s another insane lie to convince the public that (child) sex abuse is rampant.

Same ol S#!t. Different politician. It will never end. He must need some votes.. The judge just usuess the laws available to them. And who makes the lawS? The legislature. So he blames the judge. Then it starts over. Now wash and repeat.
Soon it will be so locked down it will be where you pick a crime from menue. The judge picks a sentence and thats it.

Another family member situation. No stranger danger involved.

And was the traveling to meet a minor incident another intentional trap where it might not have ever happened if not instigated by law enforcement kidnappers?
