Florida registry gets a new look

The FDLE sex offender database has gotten a new look. The homepage of its sex offender search has a nautical feel, with a lighthouse logo and a ship-wheel icon. Aside from the design change, the ability to search by status (absconded, deceased, deported, etc.) appears to be gone from the new search query, though the results still appear.

Another notable change is that vehicle and vessel information is no longer on a separate page, but appears below the registrant listing. The vehicle information, which is supplied by the DMV and is notoriously inaccurate, is now on the main screen, meaning family vehicles registered to the offender are now more prominently displayed. Bad news for spouses or children of registrants.

At the top of the page is the following, The information you are about to view has been reported directly to FDLE by the Florida Department of Corrections, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and law enforcement officials. FDLE compiles and provides this information for public access and does not independently confirm the accuracy of the information. It is FDLE’s desire that the information contained herein be accurate and reliable. Any person who believes information provided is not accurate should contact the FDLE Missing Persons and Offender Registration by phone at1-888-357-7332 or by e-mail at sexpred@fdle.state.fl.us.

Just tried to make an appt for my May registration in Orange county. Sheriff’s office tells me that they aren’t taking appt’s anymore. I remember the old days when there were no appointments. I typically had to wait a MUCH longer time at the office to register.

Marion county doesn’t do appointments. The big sign outside the jail (yes we have to enter the jail to report) says they open at a certain time on certain days, but they never open on time. By the time they do open the gate there’s a line of RC’s late for work while the public servants sip coffee and take their time doing who knows what.

I just pulled up my own registration entry and found that, if I click the browser refresh button after my entry appears, I get the search page again with the registration level (offender vs predator) and status (absconded, etc.) options finally displayed. Likely not the intent of FDLE – I guess they did some kick-ass testing of the pretty new design. When mistakes are made by FDLE re: the design and content of that site, guess who’s likely to pay for it down the road. I’ve told the sheriff about all of my bodily marks, etc., but only a couple of them show on my biannual registration receipt, and only one of them shows on the website. How can I prove that I informed the sheriff of these marks? When will I get busted for not providing the palm prints that I’m required, by law, to provide, but the sheriff refuses to take?

in the VERY SMALL space where you sign your registry/reregistry, write a small note of what you are adding/removing. It will barely be legible on the print out, but you’ll have a record

Same with me !!!!!!. My current Vehicles are there, BUT, They are mixed in with about 20 other Vehicles that I haven’t owned in 15-20 years !! Most of them are Vehicles I had and sold BEFORE I even got into trouble !!. But, As long as my current Vehicles are on the “List” I’m covered !! Lol. Let anyone figure out which of the 25+ Vehicles on my “List” I’m driving !!!!!. I’ve tried telling the Sheriff’s office about it, And I get the reply, It’s not us, It’s FDLE !!. I’ve got a file with EVERY time I’ve “Updated” my info, As well as EVERYTIME I’ve been to Rerigister !!!. Because years ago, I had a visit from the Sheriff !! Saying I didn’t Rerigister in time !! Thank God I always get a copy of when I’m there, Because that Copy SAVED MY BUTT !!! I showed the Deputy the paperwork PROVING that I “Complied” with their crap . And everything was Good !!. Anyway, Always get PROOF that you were there !!

Do not worry about this. I have checked before and what they see on the Internal system does reflect correctly (I have multiple Vehicles). It doesn’t seem to ever match correctly on FDLE whats on the website and for some that is a blessing. I personally prefer a old sold vehicle showing! Its not our issue/

The sex offender registry is a farce. Social shaming and nothing more.

Furthermore, the very term “sex offender” is meaningless. It is an term that has no concrete meaning and is used indiscriminately just as the registry itself is meaningless.

This site face-lift tries to put on air of legitimacy but just as you can put lipstick on a pig it is still a pig.

This evil segregation and stigmatization of citizens who have paid their price for their “sins” and yes I said sins because this witch hunt is nothing more than Americas collective shame and guilt about sex – and someone has to be the whipping boy! Luck us!

I noticed that my vehicle information is not listed, any of it! I also know that it is listed with the county office. Is this going to present me a problem in the future if I get pulled over for a violation by a state trooper and they see that my license has me listed as an offender but the vehicle is not listed on the state database? Just wondering.

      Charles,

that is why you KEEP a copy EVERY REGISTRATION , showing adding/removing vehicles, travel, tattoo’s, scars, etc.. I dont care what is for.. i have a copy of every registration I have done, and believe my it has saved my *ss a few times from them saying i did not notify / register certain changes as required, I pulled out my signed copies, never got an apology, but never got bothered about it again.. KEEP RECORDS !!
