Follow up on displacement of citizens in Putnam County

CBS Action News JAX says, “Registered sex offenders claim to be displaced.  They felt that they were targeted by the community to get them out of the trailer park.”

One of the displaced gentlemen said this is another type of sentence placed on top of the prison sentence that he already has served.  He is correct.

There are no showers and a shortage of food for these people, among other inhumane issues.

According to one member of the community, law enforcement was never called to the park over any concerns.

We are receiving inquiries about this situation.  At the present time, we cannot give out any information, but I promise you this issue is not being ignored.  Every possible avenue is being explored.

    Read how vile the comments are. Another group of PFRs is doxxed by a poster. No doubt we will hear of violence against them soon.

    Don’t feel one bit sad for that. You shouldn’t have done your despicable crimes! There has never been a rehabilitasex offender…EVER!

    @factz3475

    @Youmightknownow
    They are in fear??? They are lucky that they are allowed to live.

    @yankeebait

    Putnam County Sherriff’s Q&A on Facebook was pretty terrible on their justification for this. When they were answering the question about low re-offense rates they stated that 6 of the people had re-offended OR had failure to register charges. How many of those do you think were FTR and not a new sex crime? I bet it was probably all 6. Obviously FTR is illegal but those “laws” are a cure without a disease and mere paper felonies.

    Few post I have read have made more more angry than this one. The sheriff’s are getting very bold and just hurting people using a non punitive regulatory scheme. They have no place to go. Then they find a place and commit no crimes and still get displaced. What the hell do they want them to do?
    Where did the guys go is my question?

      According to the article many of them are living in tents outside the county jail.

      And many of them will get arrested because they are living on the streets, in the woods etc. with no other place to go. Then they become vagrants and harassed even more by law enforcement.

      This reminds me of a poem by Martin Niemöller.

      First they came for the Communists,
      and I didn’t speak up,
      because I wasn’t a Communist.
      Then they came for the Jews,
      and I didn’t speak up,
      because I wasn’t a Jew.
      Then they came for the Catholics,
      and I didn’t speak up,
      because I was a Protestant.
      Then they came for me,
      and by that time there was no one
      left to speak up for me.
