How will the Epstein case change New Mexico’s registration laws?

As soon as I saw the headline, I started to worry for New Mexico. The New York Times last week ran a story with the headline, “Jeffrey Epstein Registered as a Sex Offender in 2 States. In New Mexico He Didn’t Have to.” and I immediately thought to myself, ‘OH NO!’ How long will it be until the State of New Mexico proposes a new law (possibly named after one of the victims in the Epstein case) to close this perceived “loophole” in their registry?

I didn’t have to wait long for my answer or the proposal. On Friday of the same week, New Mexico’s attorney general, Hector Balderas, announced he wants to change a law that allowed billionaire businessman Jeffrey Epstein to avoid registering as a sex offender in the state.

Legislators need to stop doing this! Waiting for an extremely rare, headline grabbing occurrence to happen and then coming up with knee-jerk legislation to serve as a “fix”, that does nothing to fix any perceived problem and that will have no impact on Epstein but will undoubtedly punish people who have nothing to do with him. We’ve seen it happen time and time again.

After the murder of Jessica Lunsford, States across the country passed “Jessica Lunsford Acts” imposing harsh punishments for a horrific act committed by John Couey, who was never subjected to any of the Jessica Lunsford Acts and will never be. Similarly, Jesse Timmendequas, who raped and killed Megan Kanka, will never be subjected to “Megan’s Law” because he’s serving a life sentence in New Jersey. The year after the murder of Cherish Perrywinkle, Florida passed a bunch of new restrictions for persons required to register as sex offenders, making it “scorched earth”, but the target of that punishment, Donald Smith, will never experience the scorched earth because he’ll be in prison for the rest of his life, while tens of thousands of first-time, non-violent offenders are serving his punishment.

Assuming the government is now going to hand Epstein the punishment they believe he should have gotten more than a decade ago, he may never be returning to New Mexico. Still, presuming he does; his “Zorro Ranch” in New Mexico sits on thousands of acres of land and even has it’s own airstrip and airplane hangar. Do you really think the burdens of registration (like ostracism, vigilantism, finding employment and a place to live) are going to impact him? Hell no! Who will it impact? The potentially thousands of hard-working people who have paid their debt to society, redeemed themselves and are now living a law abiding life, who may decades later have to retroactively be added to the New Mexico registry and will lose their jobs, homes and families.

Ahhh the elephant in the room. I spent 13 months in prison (not the county jail wasn’t allowed to leave for any reason) w/o a victim. Afterwards those of us with probation attached had a probation officer (s) (some hell bent on finding a way to violate you to send you back to prison) who would show up unannounced at your residence or place of employment if you were lucky enough to find a job but after that nightmare I have to deal with law enforcement showing up at my home @ zero dark thirty 2x a year waking up my wife and children. My point is if this didn’t happen to Mr Epstein then law enforcement was negligent in their duties I didn’t even mention court ordered sex offender counseling. If they had followed their own criteria maybe this situation would have never happened and just a side note doesn’t IML apply to him also how is he able to travel like that I can’t go to France even though what I pled to isn’t a crime in France. I needed to vent. Thank you

I think there’s no mystery as to why Epstein got a “sweetheart deal”. The fact that they are focusing on revisiting his case instead of focusing on why he was given such an absurdly generous deal in the first place is what’s ridiculous at this point.

Can’t go to France? That’s new. Since when can’t an RSO go to France? It’s the second time someone’s mentioned that in a week.

Not trying to spread a rumor, though. I have never heard of an RSO being denied entry to France.

The fact that he wasn’t subject to the same rules after being convicted and allegedly continued to offend is what frustrates me most

Try this one on for size. I had a heart attack and the nurse at #@%@ hospital found out I was on the registry so she came in, said she would make sure I never offended again and purposely , painfully and permenantly got the chathater stuck in my man hood. I grabbed her wrist and told her if she tugged one more time on the tube, I would snap her wrist. She filed an assault charge against me and I sued her personally as well as the hospital. In Order to get the so called assault charge drop I had to drop my suit. Be warned no matter where we go, they are notified about us so they can exact their own form us justice on us. I have had my windows of my house shot out, my tires slit etc. The sheriffs office won’t even come out to make a police report until I threaten to file a complaint against them with the FDLE for not doing their job. Doesn’t matter than I am an ex cop, I am now a menace to society according to them. I use to have roommates to help pay my mortgage but they got tired of their tires getting slit at well. At least now I have cameras all around my house, alarm system, warning signs all over my property, that seemed to have helped at the cost to me of $99 a month which I cannot afford but also cannot afford to not have the peace of mind.

” said she would make sure I never offended again and purposely , painfully and permenantly got the chathater stuck in my man hood….”

This is a crime against humanity and violation of the Hippocratic oath that doctor’s take.

“Doesn’t matter than I am an ex cop, I am now a menace to society according to them…. I have had my windows of my house shot out, my tires slit etc”

This is because the public has been lied to by government and media, so they think you have done something that you have not. They have been told that adult-child sex is harmful to the child.

We are in the middle of genocide, and we may lose the fight in our lifetimes. But it is our duty to fight against it. The best way is to fight fire with fire, not trying to be boyscouts. One important step is linking together so we can run projects in unison taking advantage of our strength in numbers.

What they are doing is genocide and we all know what the penalty for genocide is.

          Hey Precious,
Not everyone on the registry had a child accuser. Some were ex wives trying to get back at us.
Sorry for whatever happened to you or a family member, hope you get the counseling you need.
Also not everyone on the registry is a small, frail scared person. We come in all shapes and sizes. I tend in person by my mere size to not be messed with. Think gentle giant.
Easy to sit at the computer and make threats. Seems there is more useful things you can do with your time but it is your time. As long as you are bothering me, you are leaving someone else alone.

Just a little history about Mark Lungsford, before the death of his innocent daughter he worked for Dirt Boys as a dump truck driver making approximately 21,000 a year after John Coey murdered his little girl he went to work running the Jessica Lungsford foundation paying himself approximately 65,000 a year. The satellite tracking company paid for his travel and expenses to travel across the country convincing state law makers to pass the Jessica Lingsford act. In other words Mark Lungsford got a pay raise and notoriety off of the death of his little girl. And the people that made a lot of money are the company selling the the tracking devices. Mark Lungsford even had the audacity to complain about the Sheriff, Sheriff Dean, saying he botched the investigation. That’s when he drew a lot of criticism from the disc-jockey Buba the love sponge .
No sir I don’t believe Mark Lungsford is a crack head. I do believe he is an opportunist and made a lot of money off the death of his daughter. The one that he left that fateful night to go out to a bar and get drunk.

The story within the story tells us much about why the laws are so screwed up. When there is money to be made in demeaning others, especially by categorizing groups, we don’t have to go far to figure out where the real criminal activity is. John Walsh is another example of who is profiting off of his son’s death…while destroying the lives and families of those who had absolutely nothing to do with the death.

I still can’t see how Florida can be said to be compliant for AWA when they don’t have tiers isn’t Florida the only one without them that is complient?

The requirements are a floor not a ceiling. If the State EXCEEDS the AWA requirements, they can be compliant.

The bar is set very low when it comes to “sex offender” abuse. They truly want to make you suffer and to have that suffering be very very public.

It is nothing more than public shamming in the most primitive manner which is making an untouchable class within society. We are societies whipping boys. We are blamed for all societies ills.

It feels good for them to pass laws forever punishing this newly created social class. Sex offenders are the new n^ggers in the U-S-A!

All states and the federal government need to create laws that allow us to be removed from these registries by demonstrating that we are not a threat to the public. Where a RC like me who has undergone a comprehensive psychosexual exam administered by a renowned doctor that shows no indication of sexual deviancy, paraphilias or sexual attraction to children, then I should be allowed to petition for removal. Otherwise, due process is violated.

Indeed, and I hope that it will be quick because I am tired of watching the year of my one and only life be STOLEN by lying politicians for their personal gain.

Case in point is Senator Lauren Book aka “professional victim” who has based her useless career from being abused by someone NOT on a useless list but rather someone hired by her negligent father who also makes his living off of her abuse.

Quite the family isn’t it! Sickening

I can see why trying to beat them at their own game would seem logical. The State is playing the “future dangerousness” games but it’s a trap. Since we cannot predict the future everyone has a potential for “future dangerousness” and no expert, even if he wanted to, could rightly say, “I 100% gurantee this person will or will not do this.” Challenging the punitive aspects of these “civil requirements” is where we must continue to focus. You cannot criminally punish someone after the fact nor punish someone for something they might do in the future. Florida to this day, is getting away with this because they are using the Civil code to enforce these laws. Florida has yet to be taken to task on this issue. Our day is coming. The law in our side.

It is not a matter of if the law is on our side. Getting a judge to see it that way and not being afraid they are committing a career ending offense by helping or ” going easy ” on sex offenders is what matters. When they make a ruling that can be challenged and not shot down in a higher court, that is when we win. But just like the felon voters rights bill, the law makers will probably fight it to the death. I am not being a negative Nancy, just being a realist. Although we have lawyers and FAC on our side, getting a judge on our side is a whole nother ballgame my friend. I dealt with this on my own appeal. Took 10 years and 3 judges for one to finally say enough is enough. ( I got 3 different sentences for the same offense ) Even though I won, it was symbolic since by time I got to the appeals courts, my sentence had been completed. Then they turned around and changed me from 1 time a year to 4 times a year. The deputy who comes to my house is a decent guy and told me the FDLE is looking to push for once a month checks and registrations for all offenders. They (FDLE) figures if we are going to fight them in court they can play that game as well. I am Thinking of volunteering for that upcoming one way trip to Mars. Be my luck I would have to register there as well.

Don’t forget after the Cherish Perrywinkle case Florida declared they were going to make the state “scorched earth for sex offenders.”

The Epstein case has been a persistent bugbear for years. This current case is in relation to the same charges for which he was convicted a decade ago. There’s nothing new to add other than they found a loophole in the law to circumvent double jeopardy. Perhaps they’ll drag Brock Turner back to court somehow and hang him in the town square to appease the rabid crowds, (me)too.

For every “sweetheart deal” out there there are thousands who got railroaded. I’m one of them. I’d love to leave the USA someday because I see this nation going the way of 1930s Germany. We’re already caging other “undesirables,” so how much longer will it be before those FEMA camps starts adding registered persons to the mix?

Yes Derek. I’m finally glad there’s someone out there that sees this the way I do.

And you’re right about leaving the US. But where do we go?

And just like the Jews did in Germany, we will sit back and let them systematically destroy us and our liberties while sitting back and not fighting back. At what point do we realize flat out resistance and literally fighting back will be necessary at some point? I mean, are you just gonna let them storm your house and haul you off to the FEMA camp? “That’s ridiculous. Itll never happen here. ” Ha!! Okay……
