Instagram now bans registered sex offenders.

On April 19, 2018, Facebook owned Instagram, revised it’s Terms of Use.

The new version replaces the prior version, which had been in place since 2013, can be found here: http://help.instagram.com/581066165581870?helpref=page_content

Sadly, included in this months change is a ban on anyone registered as a sex offender. The restriction did not appear in the prior version.

A comprehensive online news search revealed no issues with sex offenders using the platform in the past.

Of course. Instagram is owned by Facebook. Zuckerberg thinks he owns the world.

…and it’s high time that something be done to knock the Zuckerberg jerk off his high pedestal!

Typical of the fear mongering and scapegoating of both government and corporate institutions. Consider the following from Clarence Darrow.
“As long as the world shall last there will be wrongs, and if no man objected and no man rebelled, those wrongs would last forever.”

“The world is made up for the most part of morons and natural tyrants, sure of themselves, strong in their own opinions, never doubting anything”

California law specifically prohibits banishment of sex offenders from business establishments, among other things. It is highly likely that Instagram is using facial recognition, among other data points to identify and block users on the platform. Remember folks, Instagram is owned by Facebook, so this surprises me this didn’t happen sooner.

Instagram is a business who operates it’s business from Menlo, Park, California is now in fact breaking the law.

As a software developer, I am not even allowed to have an account so that I can integrate and build apps on the platform, or perform integrations with the service to people’s websites.

THAT is very interesting. Can you contact the California Attorney General’s office and ask if they think Facebook and/or Instagram is breaking the law? Is there any way for a citizen to make a formal request for an investigation and/or an opinion? How about contacting some county attorneys? I’m not a California citizen or I might.

If they are breaking the law, that would be too sweet. It would be up to big government to prosecute them. If they don’t want to, I wonder how much pressure could be brought upon them?

I’ve said many times that it ought to be illegal for any government to use Facebook or Instagram. It is simply not acceptable that government would use a mechanism that actively prevents U.S. citizens from access. Smells like a lawsuit to me but WTF do I know?

California the most Liberal State registers soft offenders for the duration of their lives. Some county’s such as Orange have considered banning offenders altogether. I grew up next to Menlo Park a affluent community with their own agendas.

It’s just another case of legal discrimination in the name of public safety, with no evidence to support it. Since Instagram and other social media platforms have become important avenues for promoting your business, policies like this have real economic impact for registered sex offenders too. Hopefully some good lawyers will file suit to attack the policy from that angle.

Unfortunately “good lawyers” only are interested when their rather ridiculous fees are prepaid – not really interested in justice but rather money – so don’t hold your breath. Sad but very true.

        That’s a completely false statement.
We just honored a great lawyer this past Friday who has not taken a PENNY from us.

A multi-billion dollar company like Facebook would make this challenge VERY expensive. transcripts of depositions alone could easily cost in the tens of thousands of dollars! Do you know people in any profession that would not only provide their services for free, but would pay all the costs out of pocket?

to FAC—YES ! almost ANY Injury Attorney, lawsuit attorney, slip & fall, pipe lawsuit, ACLU attorney will take your case if they feel you have been wronged.
(its called “PRO BONO” For Free) OR, they will take it on a “contingency basis” ( they dont get nothing if you dont get nothing”)
But alas, NOTHING is free in this country. The “little guy/us” cant afford big high priced fancy attorneys, like the corporations can.
So does that mean “justice” can be bought and paid for at a whim?? That if I am right and the corporations are wrong; the corporations can just throw money around and sway the case?
That we have NO Constitution, no Bill of Rights and no justice in this country UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY???
What happened to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”??

We are guaranteed free attorneys for criminal cases, not civil.

It is criminal that they are allowed to do this to ANY race, color, creed, political affiliation, high class, lower class, poverty level, homeless, sex offenders, anyone.
Yes, sex offenders, we are a class.
Just like the Japanese were in 1941-1943. Just round them up and put them in camps because they might be a threat. No evidence to back it up (just made up $h!t)
I will continue to contribute to the cause.
Is there ANY way we can charge the Book’s (lauren & Ron) with a criminal charge? hate crime? Discrimination? RICO??

You are completely correct that we are an artificially created class. We did not choose to be included and classified as so-called “sex offenders” and we can not change this label nor can we get out of the group/class.

So we are being profiled, stereotyped, and discriminated against because of being in this class.

If they denied housing to someone who is gay – they would be sued.

If they denied housing to someone who is black – they would be sued.

If they denied housing to someone who is Jewish – they would be sued.

Yet, we can be denied housing and endless other examples of legal discrimination based solely on being included in this classification (class) of “sex offenders.”

Yes, it is a hate crime. Yes, it is blatant endless punishment and discrimination!

@ Sean you got proof or evidence the books committed a crime? A personal vendetta against books is not going to work neither heresay against a wealthy family. As much as I like to see them get caught well you have dreams on one hand and $hit on the other hand. Which one will be fulfilled first?

                  Joseph,
                  Evidence?
                  Book is a slick politician.
                  So is Hillary.
All you need is “political pull” and $$$$ and you can get away with murder, even if you are caught with the gun in your hand.
                  Just look at Broward County….
Lead Sex Crimes Prosecutor, Stacy Honowitz was caught shoplifting, arrested….. then the charge “mysteriously went away”
Sheriff Scott Isreal’s son took a hockey stick/baseball bat and tried to sexually assault a student @ Marjory Douglas High School, one year before the fateful shooting.
WHO was the investigating officer? Scott Peterson, yes, the same cop who hid in a stairwell while 17 people were murdered.
(Oh, that case mysteriously “went away” also— so called lack of evidence)
So here are just 2 cases where judicial, political pull and money makes things “go away”.
So please DEFEND Mr Book all you want. I will gladly have a big handful of $h!t to wipe in his face when he slips up and cant wiggle out of his hatred for RSO’s

Using one’s wealth to deprive others of their constitutional rights is a crime…i.e. Books.

@ Sean you making guesses that book is tired in with the sheriff, and yes The state Attorney gotten away with a crime; I wasn’t happy about that. I am not defending Books. From your last reply It seems that you trying to connect dots that might not even connect. It is true and I agree with you to a certain point money buys justice. Let us not forget that girl Megan in Jersey or Jessica From Citrus County.Like everyone else I would go slap off if someone messed with my Niece. People are tired of losing a child, that is one of the most painful things a person can every endure. But where are those young girls justice? I don’t like to be on the registry anymore than the next person. Mr Book is a monster to me because he failed to be a parent to his daughter. As far as the cops’s son who did that to the other student Did you call the newspapers or tv station and asked them to do a follow up. Maybe they still investigating in? Coming on here to rant and rave with anger, Why not do what Derek L does. Get posters and bullhorn and protest her actions in front of her office or get others involved. I don’t know you But concern you might put yourself in the hospital because you letting yourself become angry. We all suffer injustice, I committed my crime,on the other hand what about those who are real victims

                    Joesph,
Dont you read the other posts that FAC puts out? FAC put out a post (or member sub) that Ron Book was one of the people invited to a big dinner for political reasons. Please try to keep up on FAC’s posts.
                    As far as the Sheriff…….
He is done/fired. He “says” that he wants to run for election in 2020. Fat chance of him getting elected.

Oh you might say “he had no responsibility” for the 17 that got killed. HE is in charge. He is/was top dog.

I tried to follow up on the “attempted sexual assault” committed by the Sheriffs son. It was buried (corruption). Scott Peterson was the “investigating officer” on that. It was buried before it even became a 30 second blurb on the news.
YES, the same Scott Peterson who hid in a stairwell while 17 people were MURDERED. Peterson did NOT do what he took an oath to— “Protect and serve” NOT hide in fear.

All you have to do is to read ALL of the posts here and on other sites (Once Fallen) to know what is going on, instead of asking for info that has already been provided.

The ACLU is your best bet. No private attorney will ever take a case against Zuckerscum on a contigency basis!

I think that this is hilarious. “They” want to keep tabs” on all RSO’s, yet they ban us which only DEFEATS their whole logic—–to keep tabs on RSO’s.
Now you DONT know what we (RSO’s) are doing. Kinda defeats the purpose of “watching us”
