Petition to Declare Public Sex Offender Registration in the United States a Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
Today, approximately one-million people in the United States are forced to register as “sex offenders”. The label leads to stigmatization, separation from society, loss of employment, loss of housing and even exposure to violence at the hands of vigilantes. The stigmatization extends to the spouses, children, family, friends, employer and anyone that associates with the registrant. The isolation, shame, stress, fear of violence, loss of income and other psychological effects are experienced by the entire household.
Equating violent rape to child molestation is about the same as equating sex offenses to murder as was done in recent legislation.
Here’s another example that the registries are a public safety scam:

Orlando Police say the homeless suspect is a violent sexual predator from Illinois who is apparently not on any supervision and is also not on Florida’s registry. Even if he was/is on Florida’s registry, the purported offense could still have occurred. In this case, the Orlando Police and the general public had no knowledge of this suspect until the incident. So, the registry didn’t prevent this horrible incident nor did it provide investigative leads. The investigators simply found the susupect living in a wooded area near the incident and connected through dots to his Illinois registration.
I wish they had gone into more detail about how lifetime on the registry affects not only the offender’s life, but the lives of their family members as well. It pains me to see what they are going through. They still love me, but are afraid to let others know, because they will be judged too. My aunt died last year and I avoided the funeral just to avoid becoming a side show at such a solemn event. And when you can’t land a decent job, your self worth plummets even farther. The claim by the courts that it’s not punishment are simply ridiculous.
None of this is new information. The problem I see is most people don’t really care what happens to someone else as long as it doesn’t effect them personally. So there willing to trash it and go on doing what they do. The only thing in there that might get the public’s attention is money . There needs to be more of a break down showing just how much it’s costing for absolutely no results, and see if the public is really satisfied with that . There wallets are the only place people care about, they don’t give a damn who there injuring.
The video is in error as to the range of offences that would land someone on the registry it can be as simple as public urineation…
Wouldn’t it be great if we could forward this to everyone in America?
Forward to as many as you can!
Im a bit confused: these are the same people that set the standards for their registry and seems they are stating that its not really fiscally effective? And they are actually putting some submissable evidence out there to back it up? Yet their teiring system is a bit askew as a level 1 in ny would be a 3 in california even if it was for transmission of cp? Where do they actually stand? Uninformed would say theyd like to make it smaller based on the context of the presentation
