Found this on the Daytona Beach News-Journal website. Dozens of transient sex offenders lived in Volusia County as of October, and county officials are exploring ways to address the issue.
District 1 Volusia County Councilman Don Dempsey brought up the statistic during closing comments at Tuesday’s County Council meeting.previous council discussions that he would rather see homeless sex offenders housed so that they are easier to track. He received unanimous support from the County Council to have county staff research the problem and bring back options for addressing it.

Does anyone know if Disney currently allows sex offenders into the park? Is there a way to enter without having to show ID. A person in my party wants to go for one day with the rest of our family

    Dear FAC and members,

Please consider this to be a notice of non-compliance with the law and Judge Hinkle’s order previously discussed.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is now requiring PFRs to provide a slew of information for out of state travel that the laws of Florida to not require. OCSO demands airline information, flight numbers, hotel addresses or other addresses for all places a PFR intends to stay of stay outside of Florida. This type of information is only required for international travel per FSS 943.0453(7). The website for FDLE does not mention the reporting for all this information, just the information required by black letter law.

      @ NOT
That is the reason I stopped traveling; won’t even barely leave the county I live in because of all the “Made up” rules some of each sheriff’s departments come up with on their own.
I am pretty sure some on the registry have been arrested for something that was NOT a registry violation.
That nearly happened to me once when a neighbor called the police on me because I had an axe. I DID, have an axe and was cutting down an old dead tree but law enforcement told me I was not allowed to own an axe.
Well, I made such a piss fuss that they called a supervisor who called FDLE, and they told them if I was using it in my yard to cut a tree there was NOTHING they could do to me unless I was threatening someone. Only thing that was getting threatened was a dead tree.
Someone left my house with mud on their face (Figuratively) And no I did not do a happy dance in their faces, I just let them walk away feeling stupid, because I did not want to give them any reason to slam me to the ground.

I got the same thing last summer in Volusia County. Had to put a forwarding address as well. It threw me into a deep depression and I froze in the hotel room for 6 straight days. I kept thinking the cops were coming to the hotel for address verification. My wife and daughter were mortified because I couldn’t even eat. FUBAR
I love traveling with my family. Not anymore.

Until state statutes delineate what counties, cities, and towns can’t do, this going above and beyond what’s required will continue. The goal is to make our lives a hell on earth. Trying to work with FDLE and our legislators hasn’t produced any tangible results. IMHO, litigation is the only recourse, but that takes lots of money and even more time. Time is one thing we can never get back.

      I live in Orange County
I traveled out of state I n Dec.
When I went in to tell them I was leaving.
There was a sign saying all that travel stuff.
I was not prepared to give that info as I had never had to do that before. I didn’t say anything. They didn’t ask for it. So are they enforcing now? As I am going out of state this month, Thanks

Australia has just made Nazi salutes a jailable offense, yet they continue to confiscate the passports of law-abiding PFR’s. Does that really make any sense to them?

Not being mean but help me understand what one has to do with the other? Just asking. Nazi salutes and taking away passports seem like the difference between night and day.

Nazis in 1930’s Germany took away the passports of Jews. If the Australian government is offended by Naziism, causing them to start punishing those who perform the Nazi salute, why do they behave like Nazis by revoking passports?

The problem was not so much taking away the passports of Jews. The problem was taking away the Jews.

I think most of us would agree that Australia’s objective in revoking the passports of sex offenders is different from the Nazis’ objective in revoking the passports of Jews.

True. However taking passports kept Jews from leaving the country made them much easier to find and arrest. I wouldn’t be too complacent regarding what could happen next. The camel’s nose may already be in the tent.

Has anyone here tried to get a UK ETA pass? It is mandatory as of Jan. 8.

Does any FORMER registrant have any experience with travel to the UK or the EU?

      Jimbo,
Once I was off all sanctions (21 years ago) I started traveling once a year for vacation. I visited a total of nine countries but after that two things stopped me from seeing more. First off, they were making it more and more difficult to travel, coming back was a nightmare with the “Extra” searches and detainments.
Secondly, I became disabled and could no longer afford to go. But to your point, make sure to do as much research as possible because I have seen a lot of people on here state that they got sent back or denied entry to places and were given no refunds.
But also have heard from a few on here who have had no issues at all. Lots of reasons for that as each state, country and even some airports seems to be less or more troublesome. And depending on the TSA officer you get, and how aggressive or friendly they are.
Good luck and hope you find the information you need to have a hassle free and blessed experience.

        @Jack

Unless you are single, most people cannot just uproot their entire family to go to another country. And in many states, even if you move out of the state (for example Florida) you still have to register. If you fail to register, they would put out a warrant for that person’s arrest and arrange for the other country to send you back.

If is not just about moving, it is for visiting and there is a tab about cruises. ie In late 2023, Saint Lucia Consulate responded, “You won’t be turned away. Simply go to the island and have a great time!” Please note that it is not the embassy that grants entry. You may want to visit Ministry of External Affairs for additional information.
