Pierce County, WA to shift scrutiy to the limited high-risk offenders.

This article points out the financial absurdity of keeping tabs on the thousands of sex offenders registered in the county, 3/4 of which are lower risk to re-offend or are a class of offender that never directly harmed someone to begin with.

It’s indicative of another county that is realizing the thousands of in-person housing checks to keep tabs on low risk offenders absorb resources that would better be spent solving new crimes.
