UPDATED: Prosecutors drop prostitution charges against Patriots owner Robert Kraft

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft won’t be facing trial on charges that he paid for sex on consecutive days at a Jupiter, Florida, massage parlor. According to court papers filed on Thursday, Florida prosecutors are dropping the prostitution charges against Kraft.

The decision comes after a court blocked the prosecution from using a video that allegedly shows Kraft soliciting a woman for sex at the Orchids of Asia spa in January 2019. Police had secretly installed the cameras, which the court ruled was violation of his and other customers’ right to privacy. Prosecutors said they would not appeal the decision, which likely left them with essentially no evidence against Kraft.

UPDATED: SOME HAVE ASKED WHETHER EVERYONE CAUGHT IN THE SAME STING HAD THEIR CHARGES DROPPED. NO. THOSE WHO PLEAD GUILTY ARE STUCK WITH THAT AND, IN MOST CASES, INCLUDED AN APPEAL WAIVER.

This is what happens when you have the money needed to fight…you win.

Must be nice to have a bottomless bucket of money to just make things like this go away.

As this was a victimless “Crime” I am thrilled that he was able to beat this clear case of entrapment and violation of privacy. Sex work/prostitution is perfectly legitimate work and is legal in most of the civilized world and guess what – everything is just fine in those countries.

      Sex offender truth

Please do not throw ALL Christians into the same boat. There are good and bad people in all walks of life. Not all of us Christians are hypocrites.

‘Christians love to feel superior with their prudishness’ is getting a little off topic here. Isn’t there a religion forum somewhere?

I think my comment on religious hypocrisy contributing to this mess is quite accurate. Were we in a country with TRUE separation of church and state most of the issues with SEX would be moot.

However – in the land of “In God We Trust” such separation does not exist and thus – things like SEX can be used to manipulate the masses.

Might not be the most PC thing to say but that doesn’t make it any less true.

Religion didn’t create sex offender registries. Religion was not a factor in the arrest of Robert Kraft. And we won’t reform Florida’s sex laws by attacking religion.

No, everything isn’t “just fine”. I don’t assume all sex work is bad but I certainly wouldn’t say it’s all good either. While some may freely choose this work there are many others who are being abused or exploited in some way. Also, data has shown that legalization does not reduce trafficking.

Just shows if you have enough money you can get a fair trial. Also shows the cops don’t mind being crooked and break the law just to get charges against someone. This needs to change.

      David

That happened to me. I would have probably had ALL charges dropped but I spent $25000 pn bail that I did not get back plus another $15000 on lawyer. He wanted another $12000 for the trial and I just didn’t have it so all charges stuck and I got screwed. If I had ,had the money, the first thing I would have had done was have the illegal interrogation thrown out. After 7 hours I would have admitted to shooting JFK , that is how bad it was.
My first appeal the judge sent my lawyer away in years.
I went back on my own but the judge said too much time had passed.
