Ron Books Lobbying Firm Rakes in the Cash from Private Prison Companies
Florida’s lobby firms filed their first quarter results this week and the three-person firm of Ronald L. Book, P.A. came in as one of the highest paid lobbying firms in the State, behind much larger firms Ballard and 200-person firm, Southern Strategy Group. According to the firm’s first quarter report, filed Tuesday, Ron Book’s firm took in $3.4Million for lobbying legislators during the period of January 01, 2018 – March 31, 2018, (source: https://floridalobbyist.gov)
Among his top clients… private, for-profit, prison companies GEO Group and Correct Care Solutions, which runs the Florida Sex Offender Civil Commitment Center. It’s no wonder that in his work for the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust he pushes so hard to lock up sex offenders. It’s also no wonder why his daughter, Senator Lauren Book, sponsors legislation imposing harsher punishment and mandatory minimum sentences for registration violations!
There were a few other interesting connections, Such as Auto Tag Management Group and AJT Media (which owns ‘eTags’ online vehicle registration and renewal) and Florida Association Of Motorist Service Providers Inc.(a/k/a Auto Tag Agency, Inc,) and K.A.S. (a/k/a Tropical Tag Agency). It’s no wonder you see a buckslip to donate to his daughter’s charity, Lauren’s Kids, whenever you renew your vehicle registration in Florida or that she has her own license plate design for purchase.
A lot of this wouldn’t matter if not for the fact that Ron Book’s client roster didn’t also include multiple municipalities, which opens up a lot of self-dealing and conflict of interest.

How is he NOT in conflict of interest…a relative is helping to shape his desired laws for personal gain…y’all just said so in this piece I read. Question is, isn’t it against the law and if so, why hasn’t any one filed charges or questioned the DA? Is he really an untouchable? (This is how tolitarians get there start!)

The problem with that film right now is that Fiege keeps that documentary under tight control. There’s no way to view it without paying out the wazoo on special event rates.
There is only one thing I want from that film– the clips of Ron Book complaining about my protest, and the comments about waterboarding us.

Anytime there is a corrupt politician you can just follow the money. I wonder what it would take for the Books to be investigated for money crimes? No one makes those kind of Investments and makes that kind of money off of those Investments without violating some kind of laws. My guess here would begin with Sunshine laws and conflicts of interest referring to him holding a political position and making money off of it.
Does Florida have an Ethics Committee? Or does the current Administration even have ethics?
a lot of conflict of interest. There is no one to take r.b to court and show this above information to like a federal Attorney and show his evil dealing. There has to be some law being broken showing he forcing sex offender back into prison for his profit
Can’t any of the weak-kneed politicians in FL put two and two together and stop Ron Book? Can’t any of them grow a spine and think for themselves? Or are they on the payroll too?
He is a big campaign contributor of theirs.
Translation, they are all bought and paid for by Ron “Ronnie Boy” Book. They get the money and turn a blind eye and deaf ear. They’ll lie and deny to the hilt.
