SB 540: We now know what the “soliciting prostitution registry” will look like.

There’s been a modification in Senate Bill 540 to the proposed language that would create the soliciting prostitution registry.

First, it’s not called a “registry” anymore. It’s now called the “Soliciting for Prostitution Public Database” I guess too much comparison to the “sex offender” registry and people realizing how well that’s going (note the sarcasm) that they are calling it a “Public Database”.

Second, we now know it will be public. There was discussion as to whether it would be private or public, the latest version of the bill has it public.

Third, we now know it will contain the following information; (a) His or her full legal name. (b) His or her last known address.(c) A color photograph of him or her.(d) The offense for which he or she was convicted.

Fourth, the person will stay on the “public database” for 5 years and then will be removed.

Let’s see how many ACTUAL human traffickers wind up on this shaming list.

how much you want to bet NONE of the congress criminals that have been blowing that 21 million tax payer bucks to pay for and cover their sex crimes will ever be on that list…its easy to create horrible laws when they wont ever apply to you.. must be nice to be one of those ivory tower dwellers looking down on the peasantry… i think I can hear them saying: “Let them eat cake”…

It will morph into lifetime, watch. I predict this will be an out of control witch hunt for law enforcement. Don’t go to a club and ask a girl out.

This is strictly a public shaming list thought up by clearly Puritans.

You have nothing better to do than making a publicly accessible shaming list of people engaging in mutually agreed upon sex acts?

Jesus, we REALLY need a law that severely punishes lawmakers for STUPID, ASININE laws that they constantly dish out.

And just what is this to “protect” the public from? To me it seems like just a way to shame and embarrass another human being and the way Washington is I’ll bet Congress critters will fill this list nicely

And why do they get to be removed after 5 years?!?

” Let’s see how many ACTUAL human traffickers wind up on this shaming list. ”

My money is on 2 or 3 in the next 10 year span – and not even. But I can bet that those in law enforcement who love initiating sex sting operations on a seasonal basis will crank up their games in prostitution stings and take advantage of this new registry to fill the numbers and receive Federal money.

That was my take as well. We’ll get a couple of pimps on that registry, 2 or 3 and they would probably pass them off as ” traffickers ” and then a whole bunch of male participants (clients) caught red handed Robert Kraft style. I agree as well to expect prostitution sting operations to be more frequent than usual. It’ll be a revolving door – once a good amount of those on this registry are nearing the 5 year marker, it’s time for the system to bring in more registrants. They probably want to keep it looking filled.
