Florida Action Committee (FAC) supports evidence-based policies that are focused on restoration of people to their communities in a responsible way.  This includes pretrial diversion programs for first time, low risk, non-violent offenders, and second chances for those who do their time and have not recidivated.  FAC advocates for treatment and sentencing guidelines appropriate to the accountability of the offender and the severity of the offense.

Florida Action Committee has been actively meeting with and educating our legislators; they are beginning to understand our message. Evidenced-based research repeatedly concludes that 95% of registered citizens are not likely to re-offend yet Florida continues to spend millions of dollars each year to incarcerate and supervise those who would otherwise be productive, employed, and financially responsible citizens of Florida.

Citizens of Florida it’s time to be heard.  Florida Action Committee is asking for all to help meet our $50,000 goal to hire a Lobbyist to represent these concerns in Tallahassee with the support of our president and our other experts.

Our lobbyist will have a full-time presence in Tallahassee, and will continue to enlighten legislators regarding the concerns we have with the current state of laws dealing with no/low risk sex offenses and registered citizens who do not pose a threat to public safety, based on proven, effective risk assessment evaluations.
