The death of Mattieo Condoluci

For those visiting our site for the first time, let me begin by saying; the Florida Action Committee DOES NOT condone sexual violence in any form.

Our coverage of the death of Mattieo Condoluci has brought a lot of new traffic to our forum. Unfortunately, it’s brought some of the attention we don’t want… Vigilantes.

To say the vicious murder of Mattieo Condoluci is a tragedy, does not allege Mr. Condoluci was a saint or even a good person. He might have been a horrible person. But the senseless killing of someone simply because their name appears on a “registry” is a great tragedy. We don’t know Mr. Condoluci so we can’t say what kind of a person he was, but we know thousands of people across this country on this registry who are great people. People who have made mistakes (or, yes, even people who were wrongfully convicted), but have learned from them. People who have paid their price to society and who have dedicated their lives to repenting for their misdeeds and becoming a better person.

Over the last week or so you have probably seen comments that presented an opposing point of view. We allowed SOME of the comments to be posted because we wanted to foster dialogue and sometimes, if there is a civil discussion, it can be an opportunity to educate rather than just talk among ourselves. What you didn’t see were a lot of really hateful comments.

As a law abiding member of my community (which I definitely am), I’m far more concerned about the deranged people who are leaving some of these comments than I am of anyone on a sex offender registry. The knowledge that these people are out there with weapons and a list of our addresses scares the crap out of me! The fact that Mr. Condoluci’s killer, James Fairbanks, used to work in a school should scare the crap out of everybody.

The threat is real and we need to do something about it. It’s not about Mattieo Condoluci. It’s not about any of us. It’s about ALL of us please contact your legislator and demand this hit list be taken offline.

I think you should archive all of the disparaging and vigilante comments for evidence in FAC’s various on-going litigations. Many times the court asks for “proofs” of what they sometimes reduce to conclusionary statements in an attempt to hide behind and make a negative ruling.

So he knew of his past and decided to confront him telling him not to abuse kids. Sounds to me of premeditated murder. If a jury finds him not guilty will be sending a bigger target on our families back. Now he’s trying to influence legislation to track registrants. Here’s an idea if someone committed a heinous crime then keep that person behind bars. Why do you need to monitor someone that peed in the bushes, went skinny dipping, got some action with a minor, teens taking pictures of each other, people caught in stings online where no minor was involved, Streaked, and people that have been crime free for decades? Why just monitor people convicted of sex crimes? Why not register everyone or nobody!!

Not comparing the two at all, however, watching the the protests going on, it is sad that not a single person probably shed a tear over Mattieo Condoluci. We do not know if he was a good person or not, but what gives the right to take another person’s life other than self defense?
What kind of sick person is ok with killing someone that, as far as I know, He didn’t even have a personal connection with? Was this killer molested by someone as a child and finally snapped? Regardless, it seems the majority of people were ok with the killing of this man who they saw as a monster ( maybe he was? ). But what bothers me is, to know, humanity so easily shrugs it off because of his past without care.
I know you have to have a passion for something to get involved but I didn’t see any news of people on the registry protesting his killing either. Sometimes I feel it is open season on us, with the hunting license being the registry.

Many of the comments above are missing the main point, which is our justice system involves too many people who do not understand, care about, practice or are concerned about true justice. If the “justice establishment” had done it’s job Mr. Condoluci would still be alive and serving time in prison. My own son was wrongly accused and convicted of a crime like Condoluci committed and served 10 years in prison. He was not given a lenient sentence like Condoluci received twice. Once could be a tragic mistake, but 2 offenses show a pattern which probably would continue. I see at least 5 lives ruined my Mr. Condoluci and probably more. We will never know. But, justice failed—-again.

Has anyone question this guys story? His email says at 9:45pm he was driving around looking at his potential new neighborhood. He comes across the registry there are kids playing outside (at 9:45 pm?) ….. Sound’s like premeditated registry murder to me. With the right lie to go with it to get public support.

He was not “looking at kids” except in the mind of the vigilante who was aware of his registry status. He also, as pointed out here, did not build or own any play equipment.

What I noticed is that the local news went out of their way to show pictures of the dilapidated play equipment. Not to hard to figure out their intent.

Having endured more than my fair share of phone calls, texts, emails, and online comments calling for my head on a silver platter, I have pretty much reached a point where my reaction is about the same if I saw an Arby’s ad, I just go “Meh,” and move on.

In the early days of my involvement in this movement, roughly 2006 to 2010, we had to death with the likes of Absolute Zero United, Perverted Justice, and Valigator. These groups are all long gone. We’re way larger and stronger than we were back then, and the current batch of trolls just aren’t quite as sophisticated or organized.

Most of these trolls came from the Free James Fairbanks crowd, and now they’re already backpedaling.

Considering how many vigilante groups have resided in FloriDUH I’m amazed you haven’t dealt with more than this week’s worth of haters, besides that one persistent troll who likes to pretend to be us.
