They are doing good work in Connecticut

Important and commendable work being done by advocates in Connecticut, who are pushing forward in the face of legislative setbacks to bring truth, fairness, and evidence-based reform to their state’s sex offense registry laws.

An article published by Inside Investigator, titled “Connecticut Sex Offender Registry Reform Gets Stripped from Budget”, highlights the disappointing decision by state lawmakers to remove proposed registry reforms from the state budget package—despite years of work, research, and support from experts and justice advocates.

The proposed changes came from a task force that included law enforcement, victim advocates, and criminal justice reformers. Their goal was simple: build a smarter system. One that assesses individuals based on risk and behavior—not just offense labels or politics. It was a promising start, one rooted in data and supported by national best practices.

Although the reforms were ultimately removed from this year’s budget bill, what stands out is the persistence and professionalism of the advocates involved. They didn’t resort to fear or outrage. Instead, they relied on facts, lived experience, and a vision of a system that keeps communities safe and respects individual rights.

Here at FAC, we know too well how difficult it can be to change outdated laws and public misconceptions. That’s why we applaud the efforts happening in Connecticut. Their work reflects the very best of advocacy: informed, respectful, tireless, and forward-thinking.

Let this be a reminder that change takes time—but it also takes voices. Your voice matters. Whether in Florida, Connecticut, or anywhere else in the country, progress is made when we speak up, stay united, and stay focused on the truth.

I Have said in the past there are other states that have not lost their mind and if you can integrate into the local work force you can live a pretty good life. Florida is by far the worst state to live in if your on the registry and it is only getting worse. VT/CT/WV are 3 states that you can live in relative peace 2 of them have no living restrictions

The mindset of those in our ranks matter most. We need a Warrior’s mindset and support each other but also step out in anyway we can where we are! Support FAC and other organizations when you can but engage in your communities at Chambers of Commerce meetings, city and county council meetings. Get to know your elected officials and their staff. Respond online via comment. In 2026 I’ll be deeply involved in politics making a difference on election night. Never underestimate the power of the mouth of a hairdresser! ..lol.
