Trolls and Vigilantes more prevalent on Florida Action Committee Forum

If you’ve been an avid follower of the Florida Action Committee forum, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve been receiving more comments from trolls, vigilantes or people simply posting nasty comments. This is likely the result of some of the public awareness campaigns we have been running over the last month or so.

As previously announced, FAC has been airing our short-form public service announcement videos as paid ads on YouTube Shorts. You can view the videos here: https://www.youtube.com/@FloridaActionCommittee/shorts

The videos have garnered more than 23,000 views in the last couple of months. This has been great in bringing awareness to our organization and spreading our message to the public. Naturally, not all people coming across the videos will share our point of view, and that’s fine. We welcome people to engage with our organization, challenge our perspective and hopefully become more informed about the laws and their effectiveness (or lack thereof). If we only communicate amongst ourselves, we will never have the opportunity to effectuate change.

Unfortunately, not all people who have differing points of view are kind or respectful. We know that and we expected that. Some people have taken the time to post nasty, threatening comments. A few have taken A LOT of time to post these comments.

As a consequence, we’ve had to spend more time moderating what gets posted to our forum. In the process, some comments might have slipped through which probably should not have. We’re sorry if anything that has slipped through has been offensive or triggering. This is new territory for us and we’re trying to balance the opportunity to debate people who have historically had the wrong impression about registrants, with keeping our site a safe and welcoming place for all stakeholders in this very polarizing topic.

To deal with the influx of new visitors, we’ve taken several steps to protect the safety and comfort of our community. First, we’ve posted our “Comment Policy” immediately above the form where users can post comments. While this won’t stop vigilantes intent on posting insults, it will hopefully curb it somewhat. Second, we are adding moderators to provide a second opinion to review certain comments that might be questionable. Third (and this has been a feature of our forum always, but something we are using more now), we capture the commenter’s IP address for every comment that’s posted to our site. Even if someone posts anonymously, there are certain items of metadata that can help us identify the source of a post. If we notice repeated violations of our comment policy, we can block the user from posting. If someone posts a direct threat, we can even provide that information to law enforcement.

The last step we are taking is bringing our readers (you) into the loop. It’s important for you to know why we are getting more unwelcome attention. It’s also important that we maintain our professionalism and dignity when dealing with these “new visitors”. If you come across a courteous comment from someone on the other side of this issue, respond politely, introduce facts, and engage in the type of dialogue that our public awareness campaigns were intended to foster. If you come across a comment that should not have been posted, don’t stoop to their level, let us know and we can remove it.

At least we know our public service announcements are getting attention, and that’s what we are trying to achieve.

Lets hope one of these vigilantes doesn’t take physical violence into their own hands against people on the registry and their families, because that has happened in the past

1 out of 3 American adults have a criminal record.
Makes you wonder how many trolls and vigilantes with criminal records have posted here.
Whether in jail or prison, everyone eats the same food there and the State pays the same amount each day per each inmate regardless of their crime.

I had my run-in with a tick-tock vigilante last year, crapped on the mat, smeared it all over my door and ring doorbell at 3:am, broke my lantern had a paper on the ground says pedo’s must die, banging on the door 6 times, we called the police they were there in minutes, they took pictures and I have him on video and voice, police department had me come down with video and detectives had a conversation with my wife and I, they said they didn’t have access to DMV, witch scans drivers licenses to get a match of who he is, only if he’s been arrested they can identify him….heard nothing else about it from them, so we bought 2 C02 pistols that shoot pepper ball,s and got 2 cans of pepper spray, with a 12 foot range….and 3 ring chime extenders, so the next time we can hear someone at our door anytime of the day or night…

They did not access to DMV for license checks? Load of BS. They can get it in a heart beat if they needed, as they did here. Of course, you could pay a PI to do a DMW run for you, give the evidence to LE for them to do their work, and then seek reimbursement in small claims court.

      Rick,

That’s great. I applaud you for taking proactive steps to protect you and your family. Next time some criminal wants to do that, make sure you put one of those pepperballs in the appropriate place as they bend over to do their business on your porch.

Interestingly, that act they did in itself was a sexual offense, but that is a whole different matter.

These newcomers to the forum, IMO, have started to make the comment sections look like a major libertarian online website article comment section with their vitriol and responses to such comments by others.

So, these idiots are actually providing FAC with independent verification of threats further showing the dangerousness of the registry? These idiots are the ones that they want to view the registry. Actual assistance in the take the law into your own hands mentality. The registry must be abolished.

It’s a clear sign that those people are very threatened by the messages you are putting out. So, please keep doing it.

Here’s an interview we did with Lady Justice (Kathleen Hambrick) about the fraudulent proactive sting operations who have put thousands of men on the registry – men who were never a threat to children. In fact, it’s much more likely that those who created the very wild fantasies about children used in those proactive stings are the ones who present a true risk to children. They have shown us what is on their minds.

They created wild fantasies about children so far disconnected from reality and they use those fantasies to promote and encourage the abuse they claim to be preventing.
They claim, “This could’ve been a real child,” when in fact that could’ve never been a real child. The decoys always behave like sexually mature, experienced adult men. And that’s because those scenarios were created by sexually mature, experienced men. They projected their own fantasies about this onto imaginary minors they imagined being this way. They claim this is what some minors want to do – seek out random adult male strangers on adult hookup sites to solicit them to engage in sexual conversations and invite them to meet for casual sex – and they do this aggressively, as if they were a sexually mature, experienced adult man, with the sexual confidence it takes to do that!

We have many episodes covering this topic on the podcast Stinging Back on YouTube. Here’s the latest episode: An interview with Lady Justice (Kathleen Hambrick):

You mean they are projecting their mind’s ideas onto others when in reality one or more of them are actually dangerous to others instead which will be proven out later possibly? LE and those in positions of trust/authority would never do that. /sarc
