Vigilante won’t fight murder charge for shooting sex offender 7 times
Raising a 9 mm semiautomatic rifle, James Fairbanks riddled Mattieo Condoluci with seven shots, bullets entering Condoluci’s back and chest. One bullet pierced Condoluci’s forehead, near his temple.
All after Condoluci, a convicted sex offender, answered his door near 43rd and Pinkney Streets in May 2020.
Yet Fairbanks and his attorney, Steve Lefler, contemplated a self-defense claim up until minutes before the 44-year-old Omaha man pleaded no contest Thursday to second-degree murder and a gun charge. They said Condoluci had charged the armed Fairbanks after he showed up at Condoluci’s house to warn him to stay away from kids.
Prosecutor Brenda Beadle, the chief deputy Douglas County attorney, called the self-defense assertion “comical.” She noted that Condoluci had no idea that a gunman would come to his door the night of May 14 and had not had any prior contact nor conflict with Fairbanks. Beadle and fellow prosecutor Ryan Lindberg suggested that Fairbanks was hunting sex offenders with the rifle he had bought earlier that year.

It sure looked premeditated to me.
So the list takes another victim to an early grave.
So you take a rifle to someone house to “warn them” to stay away from children, use it claiming that someone tried to defend against your deadly threat then claim you are the victim? Everyone please understand that anyone at your door without a uniform on could potentially be there to harm you and your family. Do not answer the door unless you are prepared to defend your home with deadly force. Let them leave a message and if they do not then it must not have been important. I always have a gun on unless it’s a Leo on the monthly meet and greet. If you cannot posses a firearm then do not open the door period.
I do not know the age of the victim, but history seems to indicate the vigilantes always pick out the elderly among us as they pose the least likely to be able to defend themselves, such is the fortitude of these cowards to seek out the weak and vulnerable – the appearance of strength will always deter them as it tests their conviction and finds it wanting.
Maybe after a few of the vigilantes are put down by registered citizens who are defending their homes and family will we see some relief.

Where do you live that you are allowed to own a gun? Here we are banned for life from owning a gun. I think there is some old law that says we can have a black powder gun but I wouldn’t even have that as some gungho cop might arrest. Then you spend untold $10000000 spending the next decade trying to fight the charges.
I keep several Louie sluggers around my house . 3 crow bars 4 foot in length, and 5 long heavy pipes all stationed in areas of my home so I can grab something anywhere I am.
No felony adjudication = no loss of firearms rights….
Check your law in Fl and elsewhere before you make the decision to posses/carry a rosco.
Sure looks like the “Registry” AKA The HIT LIST is WITHOUT A DOUGHT Punishment !!!!!!!. This poor man paid the ULTIMATE PUNISHMENT because his Personal Information was BLASTED FOR EVERY KILLER TO SEE !!! I truly believe that EVERY State should be CHARGED with ACCESSORY TO MURDER because ANY DUMB SMUCK knows that publishing people’s Name, Address And Personal Information of EX Offender’s that has a Sex Charge IN THEIR PAST,,, to the ENTIRE WORLD can and will cause IMMINENT DANGER OF LOSS OF LIFE when some CRAZY PHYSCO or ANYONE that desides those on that list doesn’t deserve to live, Can and WILL use that info to go KILL those FORCED to have their Names, Addresses and Personal Information on that HIT LIST AKA The Registry !!!. . One (or MANY) Could also say that By posting this list to the world, That it Constitutes PREMEDITATED MURDER !!!!!!!. Because someone uses this “Hit List” ALMOST DAILY to HARM OR KILL those FORCED to be on that list !!!!. Sure wish I had the money to hire a GREAT Attorney (s) to challenge and charge Every State in this Country , One at a time or ALL AT ONCE !!! I can almost GARANTEE that IF the Government (The States) Actually went by the LETTER OF LAW according to EXACTLY HOW OUR CONSTITUTION AND BILL OF RIGHTS ARE WRITTEN, There’s NO WAY the Government (each State) would be able to win in court !!!. Agree with you 100%. Someone needs to start a go fund me page to assist his relatives to finance an attorney to sue the country and the state for allowing his private information to get into the hands of mentally unstable individuals like this. And any organizations who publish that information they received from the registry.
They can call the registry whatever they want but it is Doxing. How can places like Kansas City Missouri which passed a law last year against Doxing support the registry which is exactly the same thing with a different name. Something needs to be done to make them aware of such blatant hypocrisy.
Fairbank’s version of events never did pass the smell test. Truth is, he’s a lifelong underacheiver who just wanted a little hero worship. Now he’a yesterday’s news. Donations to his jail book and attorney have dried up and he’s now juat another crook.
Funny that a few months ago he was convinced that no jury would convict him.
I always peek out my window before opening the door. If it is a shooter, Freddy kruger or Someone trying to save my soul for the 1000th time, I do not open the door.
