Due to term limits, House members may be elected for up to four terms (eight years), while State Senators can be elected for up to two terms (eight years).

After which, presumably Sen. Book presumably will run for US Congress or other higher office, and that will be swell.

When you watch the video keep this mind Book has a bill that will essentially make people lobbying for or against a bill to be sworn in but exempts politicians.

In Books opening statement she said over half of human trafficking victims are children, when in fact it is estimated that 1 in 4 victims are children.

Not all human trafficking is sex related, a big part of the human trafficking is in the agriculture industry.

Book mentions the imminent need for this bill because of the “Kraft” sting, there was zero human trafficking arrests made in that sting, to my knowledge only clients were arrested, and I guess Book is okay with LEO allowing the victims in this sting to be victimized for 4 months why LEO just recorded it. Guess it’s a good thing this bill requires 4 hours of LEO training on human trafficking.

As for the hospitality industry thinking they are now going to be exempt from being sued by victims, they should be smarter than that, victims now have the ability to go into court and claim that they are supposed to be trained in identifying and reporting it and did nothing or didn’t recognize it fast enough.

Lauren “Crook” Book does not provide verified and validated sources of Data she presented to back up her statements

Many speakers were able to cite studies showing that this was a poorly-written bill. Those in favor of the bill had much weaker arguments— we disagree, we believe in the bill, it’s well-intended— but unfortunately they also had higher stature (law enforcement leaders, for ex.). I appreciated Lauren Book’s tacit admission that the SO registry is bad to be on and that this registry will not be as bad.

Also, special shout-out to the FAC representative who provided some of the most viscerally powerful moments of this entire hearing. Not only are the evidence-based studies on our side, but also this.
