WY: State budget cuts include sex offender programs
Gov. Mark Gordon and his state agency heads will begin their work this week to cut the state’s biennium budget to deal with projected revenue shortfalls of $1.5 billion, he said Wednesday.
And the governor warned residents during a news conference that they will have to expect both program and personnel reductions.
“Some of the things that are on the (list for cuts) will be funding for things like mental health, sex offender programs, children, elder care … travel out-of-state for some of our agencies,” he said. “These are some of the many very difficult choices we will have to make and there will be reductions in force. None of that is good.”

Sex offender programs? Really? I thought that we sex offenders cant be cured or helped in any way shape or form that is the reason that the nit wits made the sex offender registry I thought. Sex offender programs? The nit wits are getting nit witter every day.
Sex offender programs? Really? ,Forgot to add this thought. Even if we are to go to and take part in one of these Sex offender programs what if anything will change for this SO? Will our time on the registry be shortened? Will we at some point be considered less dangerous? What will change if anything at all? NIT WITS say that you have to go to these Sex offender programs even though we know that these Sex offender programs will not help you in any way.
Is he saying they will cut the sex offender registry?
I do not understand what he means by sex offender cuts
I’m with yall: if it’s cutting SOR, then yay! But if cutting funding for therapy, treatment, and support, terrible.
I’m confused. What is meant by “sex offender programs” here? Anybody know?
SO treatment, if done right, would be an unfortunate target for cuts.
But if they are talking about cutting tracking, surveillance, and compliance checks, then those could be eliminated 100% with no corresponding threat to public safety.
I’d bet abolishing the registry would make up a pretty big chunk of that shortfall.
Sex offender programs?! And what might that be??
