📣 MEDIA TUESDAY #2

⚡ THE BUZZ

News • Media • Legal Developments • Ways to Take Action

This week’s The Buzz brings together our newest media release, important legal developments, our continuing declaration effort, the push toward 10,000 petition signatures, and several ways you can get involved.

Some of these stories are moving quickly. We have included links throughout this update so you can follow our original reports, case information and resources directly.

🎬 NEW FROM OUR MEDIA TEAM

AFTER THE ARREST

PREMIERES TUESDAY AT 9:00 AM ET

What happens after the cameras leave?

Arrests often generate immediate headlines, press conferences, mugshots and social-media attention. What receives far less attention is what happens afterward—the legal process, family disruption, employment consequences, housing barriers and long-term effects that can continue well beyond the original news cycle.

Our newest video, “After the Arrest,” looks beyond the initial headline and asks what happens once the cameras leave. It examines consequences affecting individuals, families, veterans and communities that rarely fit into a short press conference or television news segment.

Watch it. Share it. And consider sending it to someone who may only know these issues through arrest headlines.

⚖️ LEGAL UPDATE

FAC v. GLASS

Our federal constitutional challenge to Florida’s sex offender registration system continues.

In FAC v. Glass, we are asking the federal court to evaluate Florida’s registry as it exists today after decades of legislative changes and the addition of state and local restrictions.

Our complaint raises constitutional claims involving retroactive restrictions, interstate travel, due process, vague criminal prohibitions and restrictions on protected speech.

We maintain an official case page containing the complaint, available exhibits, court filings and major updates as the litigation progresses.

Follow the official case page.
Because federal litigation develops through formal filings and court rulings, this page will remain our primary source for significant FAC v. Glass updates.

📝 DECLARATIONS NEEDED

YOUR EXPERIENCE CAN HELP

Court cases involve statutes and legal arguments, but evidence showing how laws operate in everyday life can also matter. We are asking registered citizens affected by Florida’s registry laws and local ordinances to submit declarations describing their experiences.

That may include experiences involving residency restrictions, proximity ordinances, family separation, travel restrictions, housing difficulties or other consequences connected to Florida’s registration system.

These declarations can help document the difference between how a restriction appears on paper and how it actually operates in the lives of individuals and families.

Your experience matters. Your voice matters.

Know someone who may qualify but does not regularly follow us online? Please share the declaration form with them.

🚧 LEGAL WATCH

UNION COUNTY LAWSUIT

The 2,500-Foot “Travel-Through” Restriction Is Being Challenged

We are continuing to follow the federal lawsuit challenging Union County’s 2,500-foot restriction.

As we previously reported, the suit was brought by the Florida Justice Institute on behalf of two Florida registrants.

The complaint alleges that the 2,500-foot exclusion zones cover much of Lake Butler, including public roads and access to businesses and government locations.

The lawsuit raises constitutional claims under the First and Fourteenth Amendments, the Ex Post Facto Clause and Florida’s constitutional right to intrastate travel. It also challenges the ordinance as unconstitutionally vague.

The merits of those claims are for the federal court to decide.

We will continue following publicly available developments in the case.

📣 INFORMATION. PARTICIPATION. COMMUNITY.

Our work depends on people contributing in different ways. Some research. Some write. Some share a post. Some submit a declaration. Some donate. Some volunteer a few hours. Some simply forward a story to someone who needs to see it.

No single action does everything—but together, our individual actions add up.

Stay informed. Stay involved. Keep sharing.
