40 people have no place to go after homeless camp vacated

Here’s the law in Osceola County that is causing this:

ARTICLE IV. – SEXUAL OFFENDER RESIDENCY

Sec. 14-73 (a) It is prohibited and unlawful for any person who is required by Florida law to register as a sexual predator, or who has been convicted of a violation of F.S. § 794.011 [1], 800.04, 827.071, or 847.0145, regardless of whether adjudication has been withheld, in which the victim of the offense for which conviction resulted was sixteen (16) years of age or less at the time the offense was committed, to establish a permanent residence or temporary residence within two thousand five hundred (2,500) feet of any school, day care center, park, playground, designated public school bus stop, public library, church or other place of religious assembly, or other place where children regularly congregate, regardless of whether the school, day care center, park, playground, designated school bus stop, public library, or church or other place of religious assembly lies within unincorporated Osceola County.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —

After it was discovered a handful of sex offenders were among about 40 people living in tents on a piece of property in Kissimmee, the property owner told them they had to leave.

Most of the homeless people evicted from the property along Old Vineland Road have no place to go, and the city of Kissimmee and Osceola County have no help to offer.

“I wish I had better news to say,” said Kissimmee City Commissioner Jose Alvarez. “There’s really nowhere we can put them.”

Of the dozens of people who were living on the property, seven were sex offenders. All of them had to leave.

One resident of the tent city, who did not give his name, said he’s been living there for a year. He’s not a sex offender, but has to leave all the same.

“We thought we were homeless,” he said. “Now we’re really homeless.”

In the long run, Alvarez is working on plans to develop more affordable housing in Kissimmee, but that will not help those kicked off the property Tuesday.

The issue is likely to resurface as land owners develop property in the area that is currently populated by hundreds of homeless people, Alvarez said.

Absolutely disgusting – that living restriction says they cannot live near a church or a library? The living restrictions anywhere are bad enough but when does it end??

FAC local team of Outreach, Membership and the local county coordinator for Osceola has been working with this homeless population.
It was shared with us just hours ago the registrants have found a place to relocate to with the generous donations of one of our dedicated members The county coordinator has hired a u-haul to move the registrant homeless. There will be further needs for funds and assistance .in Osceola co for there are still 28 individuals in incarceration at the county jail whom were violated from this very same site. Outreach and membership continue to work with the Osceola PD to seek out housing placements for those individuals as they are reinstated and released.Your help and donations are encouraged with a designation to the homeless registrants of Osceola Co.
    Thank you
