97% Compliant in Levy County, FL Sex Offender Compliance Check!
Ninety-Seven percent of persons forced to register as sex offenders in Levy County, Florida were determined to be compliant after a “month’s long” investigation! Those we were arrested were not committing new sex offenses, but were arrested for technical violations of registration laws.
That’s the news. But of course, that’s not what the story promoted. This article is titled, “7 arrested in Levy County sex offender compliance crackdown”. Sure sounds ominous! A “crackdown”! A “month-long enforcement initiative”.
So just to confirm, after law enforcement spent a month “cracking down” on registrants, they discovered that 202 of 209 FORMER sex offenders were compliant and those who were not, were not committing an offense for anything that would be considered a crime, but for the fact that they are registered.

I wonder if any of the PFRs were forced to sign any paperwork
here is ‘the paper work’ that some law enforcement agencies use; they usually cut and paste the document to their desires
Also, please read entire document because the USDOJ does NOT endorse it

That form looks like a breach of privacy to me. That information is none of their d*** business.
@No End
There are 67 counties in Florida with 67 Sheriffs offices. Every one had a different approach to the registry and different rules. The reason I know that is because I have been on F.A.C or many years and I have seen counties like mine where you are in and out with no issues and when the deputy comes to our home, we do not have to sign nothing, just verify we live where we say we do.
Then other counties, I have seen registered persons on here tell their Hellish nightmares every time a cop comes to their door. There are lots of sheriffs that grandstand on the news and are always in the headlines about tough they are on people. Then other counties, you wouldn’t know that sheriff’s name if he hit you with his patrol car.
The general rules by the Florida legislation is the same, but seems there is a broad spectrum of what those rules can be stretched to fit their narrative. For example, I purposely left the last county I was in over 20 years ago. I had law enforcement coming to my door more than once a week. Now the county I live in, I get two checks a year that last about 2 minutes each and sometimes less. Once I got a drive by and a honk of the horn when I stepped out and he gave me a thumbs up and asked if I was good and drove away.
There is no way I would let them in my house to check my home unless they had a warrant to do so. Remember, the registry is a civil tool not a criminal punishing tool according to the courts
Just think how many lives could have been saved and how many injures could have been prevented if the police would actually concentrate there efforts on things like drunk driving check points, drug dealers, etc… where many many more lives would be saved and injuries been prevented.
Those multiple DUI offenders, coke heads, pill heads, drivers license revoked several times offenders are just as important as the predators, pedophiles, rapists. All need to be monitored and watched. This is an excellent use of tax payer dollars to protect citizens and minors. 👌🏽👍🏽
Then why isn’t there a registry for those???
Eventually they will catch us all in traps. Not a new crime, just made of crap they come up with like finding a 45 year old rusted car in your back yard that you didn’t register even though it doesn’t run, doesn’t have tires or even a windshield.
You are required to register vehicles at your residence regardless of condition.
Just register it as you are required to do by law and there will be nothing to arrest you for when they find it in your back yard.
Fac, but that’s not the point!!!

Be careful 🙃

Thanks. I use the 50/50 method. I live my life as if I am not on the registry but keep mindful of how far I have come. I do my best to comply but every single session they have in Florida, they keep adding more and more requirements. That actually eventually will be a good thing when the bubble bursts and the supreme court finally gets some sense and says, “That’s enough”.
Until that day comes, I spend every day acting like I just got out of prison and don’t want to go back.
Even something stupid like pulling into a school to change a flat, even when the school is closed, could get your arrested. Happened to me once but the officer super chill friendly and stayed there with me until I got the tire fixed and wished me safe travels as I left. You don’t see that every day.

I never heard of 45 year old rusted car, your imagination runs wild.
Just the usual hype, trying to make a nothing operation sound like a tough
“Crackdown”.
Can that fact make it back to the news reporting agency? Maybe there’s an editorial?
Sure! Anyone can write to the news outlet that published the misleading headline.
I’d encourage any and everyone to reach out to this “news” organization and let them know the truth. I know I will.
A journalism major with facts is the news source who reported. You can report the imaginary ‘truth’ all you want but nobody will care 😂🤣
Real journalism seeks to report both sides of a story. If you think this was journalism then you didn’t read the article.
The headline could just have easily read, “Cops Did Their Job – Enforced the Law as Written!”
I still respect the public service workers, but a lot of headlines and glory come from them doing exactly what they’ve been trained and paid to do! Ditto for military: love them, served in the Army, but these guys (and gals) get PAID to fight and defend.

Just what are they enforcing? A registry that was retro-actively applied to many of us who had already completed our sentences and did not get a hearing that years later they could add even more punishment to their sentences?
What happens when the authorities and law makers decide there should be more registries. Registries for people who don’t maintain their homes and yards? Registries for people who have too many cars in their driveway? Registries for couples who have too many children?
Laugh and scoff if you want but there have already been many ideas floated around for different types of registries. What about bad cop registries, ones that are on the take or beat up people who just said something the cop didn’t like?
