20 thoughts on “Michigan: News Poll – should Michigan do away with the registry

What people don’t realize is that neighbors could have been able to watch over the occasion 1 or 2 sex offenders in a neighborhood. The law requires sex offenders to be 17 deep, all together making it difficult for neighbors to keep an eye on all of them. The sex offender used to live a block away from the school where parents could watch the property of the sex offender as they lined up the block 20 minutes before the kids are let out. The nearby children to the sex offender played at the park at school that is supervised. Now he is required to move far from the school and the watchful eyes of parents. There are no parents walking their kids to school in the sex offender’s new neighborhood. The kids have no safe park to retreat to. Instead they play in the parking lot where 17 sex offenders live. Some sex offenders can’t find homes to rent. No one wants to give a lease to the sex offender. So the sex offender hangs out in bars and spends the night with the single mom’s they meet at bars. Some states like Wisconsin restrict RSO from moving to a new city. They can only live in the city they caught the charge in. The logic is the sex offender MUST live in the city where he is familiar with the the children. In Florida kids are safer with sex offenders wandering the streets than if they were alone in a home. All this makes sense to lawmakers.

74% voted not to do away with the registry. Nobody likes to walk on others shoes until they or a loved one is forced to walk those shoes.

How is it that a Legislature House holds more power than a Judge? Lynch Mob.
