Petition to Declare Public Sex Offender Registration in the United States a Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
Today, approximately one-million people in the United States are forced to register as “sex offenders”. The label leads to stigmatization, separation from society, loss of employment, loss of housing and even exposure to violence at the hands of vigilantes. The stigmatization extends to the spouses, children, family, friends, employer and anyone that associates with the registrant. The isolation, shame, stress, fear of violence, loss of income and other psychological effects are experienced by the entire household.
My Youtube Comment (on this video):
Publishing people’s names, addresses, and other identifying information is called “doxxing”. It should be illegal. It encourages scamming and acts of hatred. Each year, out of all of the sex crimes in the USA, over 95% of them are committed by people who have never been on a registry. In fact, people who have committed sex crimes are only 2% – 5% likely to ever reoffend. So the money that we spend doxxing close to 1 million people each year could be better spent on prevention and education. We cannot stop the scourge of sex crimes withour using FACTS-based strategies. (Rather than doxxing, vigilantism, torches and pitchforks.)
Great comment.
Well said. Thanks for posting that to the video. Send that comment to each legislator in your free time. I encourage others to comment or at least “like” the comment please.
The OffenderWatch website suggests, strongly, that its OW subscribers can get more personal information regarding PFR’s (like phone numbers and email), provided directly to OW by the law enforcement community at large.

My only phone # is my cell phone and I do not answer calls that I cannot identify. I wait and see if a voicemail goes through, if not, most likely a salesperson, scammer or the president wanting us to donate for the border wall lol.
So, a news story advertisement for the registry but again, they are getting the word out to PFRs, et al that scammers are still active. This was probably initiated by the LE office because it puts them in a bad light (boo hoo) so they felt they needed to warn via this story to stay in a somewhat good light.
I’ve been getting extortion and entrapment scam calls and texts for years. Perpetrators hide behind something called Anonymous Virtual Phone Numbers in an totally untraceable fashion. I spoke with my police detective contact here in Jacksonville and he said there’s nothing they can do. Shame on tech, Internet and cell phone companies for inventing, promoting and protecting this widely abused and totally unaccountable method that allows criminals to easily access phone networks to engage in numerous documentated categories of criminal behavior.
None ya
I have a solution I do but you may not like. I never answer a call I do not recognize and wait until there is a voice mail. After listening, if it is legit, I call back. If you are not in my phone, leave a message and I will get back to you.
I did get a call about a year ago from a so called deputy trying to scam me. When I said I would meet him at the sheriff’s office, he said no, if I didn’t pay in person meeting him, he would come to my house. I said in these exact words “Bring it brother, bring it, I’ll be waiting”. Never heard from him again.
I don’t have any money anyway so how you gonna get juice out of a dried-up lemon. If they ever make my county make us pay to register, I am screwed.
That’s where I’m at these too. If I don’t know you and you don’t leave a message it’s not a real call. The VPN numbers should be better regulated by law enforcement. Tech companies are out of control, unacceptable and loaded with immense cash and political power. They are calling the shots these. I’m getting old and tired……
Same here. Last one was about 6 months ago. While voice recording, I played along and said I will meet you in a public place. They hung up. Shared the recording with the deputy that comes by each month and he told me there’s nothing they can do. The deputy that comes to my house every month is actually a nice guy and has told me it’s a joke for me to have to register. If we could track the scammer’s phone number, he would be able to try to do something about it. Been dealing with this registry bullshit since 1997 because I was still on probation for a plea deal in 1991. Screwed like many of you. How Ex Post Facto has not been applied to the SRO yet is a rude joke. I am married to a Kindergarten teacher. My oldest is a freshman at Carnegie Mellon. My youngest is the starting QB at his high school with a 4.9 gpa. Pre 2007 before the registry went online I made 6 figures a year, now if I make 60k a year, I am lucky. Everything prior to 1997 when it comes to the SRO in Florida is EX POST FACTO. Everything! From having to report in person to providing the VIN of any vehicles or boats. Had I known in 1991 that I would have to deal with a lifetime of bullshit because of a 26 year old woman’s lies, I never would have taken a plea deal and gone to trial. She said, he said. I had just finished college and had a good job lined up. Me and my parents ran out of money and could not afford to go to trial. I did my time on probation, only to end up on the lifetime registry which has ruined any chance I had at getting a high paying job. Sorry but not sorry for my rant. Again, everything about the registry is Ex Post Facto. I know there are many others in my situation. That said, I really only care about those in my situation that have to register even when Ex Post Facto should have removed us years ago. If you diddled a kid after 1997, and got convicted of such, you should have to register. Again, sorry for my rant. I am tired of living this registrant life.

Almost same scenario. Crime was 1991, arrested 1992, sentenced in 1993, got out of prison in 1997 and was immediately told to go straight to the registration office. Like you said, retro-actively applied with no way to appeal. If I had known a lifetime registry was in motion when I went to court, I would have fought tooth and nail, instead I plead guilty to all the charges, even the ones that were made up.
I ran out of money and had no way to pay a lawyer for an appeal and was not going to allow my parents to spend their life savings to save me. And it did not help I had the worst, meanest and harshest judge in the universe. She told me that if she could have done so I would be in prison for life. I was given 3 different sentences that she made them one after another so I had to do prison, house arrest then finally probation. 22 years all together, however, I got early release in prison, did all of my house arrest, and did two appeals on probation and won the second time. So out of 22 years, I served 10 years.
But lifetime registration is to me, more like being on probation again. Just switch from a probation officer, to a sheriff’s deputy who comes and checks on me instead. And as they add more and more restrictions on all of us, it becomes harder and harder to not get arrested. I am so freaked out that a couple times a month I have a nightmare that I forgot to register and when I wake up, I open my safe and look at the paperwork to make sure I really did register. Just sickening that we have to live like that.
