Even the Accused Killer Gets More Sympathy

A fundraising campaign for a teenager accused of murdering a 56-year-old registrant was recently shut down by GoFundMe. The campaign had raised thousands of dollars from supporters who viewed the accused as hero.

It says a lot about our society when an individual charged with killing someone was able to attract widespread public sympathy, financial support, and a community willing to rally to his defense. Yet when people on the sex offender registry seek help rebuilding their lives, finding housing or a job, they are met with hostility, public shaming, and demands that they be permanently excluded from society. Where is the sympathy for the murder victim or his family?

Shameful!

This murder DESERVES to have his life ruined, not celebrated as a “hero” or his defensive funded by hateful and ignorant people giving the “thumbs up.” I don’t CARE if he’s only 18 and “has his hole life ahead of him.” He forfeited his future the moment he decided to take a human life. I could just imagine the sickening comments left on that now-deleted Go-Fund-Me page.
