Even the Accused Killer Gets More Sympathy

A fundraising campaign for a teenager accused of murdering a 56-year-old registrant was recently shut down by GoFundMe. The campaign had raised thousands of dollars from supporters who viewed the accused as hero.

It says a lot about our society when an individual charged with killing someone was able to attract widespread public sympathy, financial support, and a community willing to rally to his defense. Yet when people on the sex offender registry seek help rebuilding their lives, finding housing or a job, they are met with hostility, public shaming, and demands that they be permanently excluded from society. Where is the sympathy for the murder victim or his family?

Shameful!

Graig Graziosi of the Independent can’t even get basic facts of the article right. First, he is quoted as reporting “Collegedale police stated that despite the victim’s past crimes” yet only the sole offense from 2003 is mentioned.

Also later, he wrote, “According to police, the evidence currently suggests that Neal was targeted at random. ” This doesn’t make sense, unless the reporter meant the victim, not the alleged murderer.

Earlier I said that the fundraiser was likely going to pop up on “GiveSendGo” and I was right.

There is a fundraiser up, except that they write in vague terms but it is the web address that infuriates me. “Woodchipper Saint.” Really?

I saw this scenario play out a few years ago. This isn’t surprising. Y’all probaby remember the guy who made headlines for beating an elderly registrant to death with a moose antler in Minnesota. He also got a lot of attention. Well he’s been claiming mental illness to avoid trial, but recently, the judge declared he was competent enough to stand trial.

We have gotten a few similar fundraisers removed from GoFundMe. They just end up moving it to GiveSendGo, the “Christian” (Nationalist) version, the same place where J6ers and Kyle Rittenhouse got blood money.

Sure this clown may be a few thousand, but he’ll still go to prison where he will be largely forgotten by the general public as they move on to the next freak of the week.

Are you or anyone else going to contact that website to get the fundraiser taken down? It’d be worth a shot at the very least.

This murder DESERVES to have his life ruined, not celebrated as a “hero” or his defensive funded by hateful and ignorant people giving the “thumbs up.” I don’t CARE if he’s only 18 and “has his hole life ahead of him.” He forfeited his future the moment he decided to take a human life. I could just imagine the sickening comments left on that now-deleted Go-Fund-Me page.
