1. 🏳️🌈 LGBTQIA+ Support Group — Sunday
Sunday, September 20, 2026 • 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Florida Action Committee is hosting its LGBTQIA+ Support Group by Zoom. Members can join for conversation, support, connection, and community.

2. 🤝 Member Support Call — Monday
Monday, September 21, 2026 • 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Join FAC’s Member Support Group for conversation, encouragement, and sharing. The group is facilitated by John D. and other county coordinators.
3. 🇺🇸 Veterans Supporting Veterans — Thursday
Thursday, September 24, 2026 • 8:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
The Veterans Group is a support forum for veterans forced to register, families of registered veterans, other veterans affected by the registry, and members of the public interested in supporting this focus group.
Members can expect support and resource assistance for concerns unique to veterans and their families.
4. 🌟 Michigan Update — Reporting It Again Because This Matters
FAC reported this development earlier, but it is worth highlighting again as members head into a new week.
More than 20,000 people have been removed from Michigan’s sex-offender registry as Michigan State Police implements a Michigan Supreme Court ruling involving retroactive registration requirements.
This does not mean Michigan eliminated its registry, and the ruling does not erase anyone’s underlying conviction. The issue concerns retroactive application of later registration requirements to certain people.
5. 🏥 Medical Treatment or Other Misuse of Registry ID Markings — How to Report It
FAC wants members to document situations where they believe they were treated differently after someone saw a registry-related marking on a Florida driver license or identification card, including “SEXUAL PREDATOR” or “943.0435, F.S.”
This may happen at a hospital, doctor’s office, pharmacy, hotel, workplace, security checkpoint, bank, government office, or another setting where identification is required.
- Date, time, and exact location.
- Who examined the identification.
- What happened before and after the ID was shown.
- Any exact words used by staff.
- Whether treatment or service was delayed, denied, or changed.
- Names of witnesses and any records connected to the incident.
6. 🎥 Want to Volunteer With FAC Media?
Florida Action Committee is looking for volunteers who want to help with media, public education, and production work. You do not need professional media experience.
Ways to help: production, writing, interviewing, research, logistics, media outreach, editing, and review.
Some projects involve sensitive personal experiences, so discretion, accuracy, and respect for participants are especially important.

I can’t remember all of the details, but went to Hollywood, Florida and needed to get a hotel room for the night. Walked in, spoke to the clerk, he had a room, he asked for my driver license and then looked up and said, I’m sorry, but I can’t rent you a room. I just picked up my DL, said thank you and left. Slept in my car that night. This was December 2023.
Sometimes it feels like we live in a third World country for some of the treatments registered persons endure. Law enforcement talking down to us, neighbors hating us, people losing their jobs once the secret is out and even medical staff acting like we do not deserve equal care.
I would hope that eventually judges who are sworn to justice, could realize we are being sentenced long after our sentences, they just do not see it that way. Calling it a regulatory scheme does not make it any better.
Until something changes, the wild west sheriffs will continue to find ways to lock us up over a piece of paper.
