Come Listen: ComplianceAtlas Covers FAC v. Glass
Thank you, ComplianceAtlas, for reading our email newsletter and bringing attention to FAC v. Glass. We appreciate you helping more people understand our lawsuit and the issues facing people on the registry and their families.
Come listen to Compliance Atlas Radio and explore their Registry Wire coverage! Their website features our federal lawsuit challenging Florida’s registry laws and the local restrictions layered on top of them.
Their report explains the amended complaint, the court’s schedule, and our argument that these rules must be considered together when looking at their impact on people’s lives.
For our members and families, these issues touch everyday life—where we can live, where we can go, and how we keep our families together. Every person who takes time to learn about the case helps bring those experiences into the conversation.
Please listen, read, and share the coverage with someone who wants to understand why this case matters.

Thanks for your return response. An elder of my church noticed my arrest report in local newspaper and called my wife. He asked me tell him what took place and after conferring with the IT man we have church offered to go with me to see my local lawyer. He studied my situation and took his notes to give my lawyer. His report said the same that you stated. I told lawyer that I have never initiated a FaceTime call. I had a friend send one to me about a year ago. I told lawyer that I don’t even know how to make such a call. I said the same regarding the use of another email called iCloud.com. I don’t want either on my phone. She told me that just having received something on them constitute usage. My lawyer told me to go to Apple to get them to remove them. Not sure about doing that due to trial proceedings being performed.

I am 90 years old and will turn 91 in January. My wife is 90 years old too. I only want to use my phone like anyone else uses it; as a phone. I was recently arrested for not knowing that I had not registered some internet identities that I did not know were on my phone. I bought the phone to have contact with my family and friends. I neither need nor want to FaceTime or have any other email account with Icloud.com. I did not realize that these were on my phone when I bought it. Now I have court time and have had to hire a lawyer. I am not very computer nomenclature savvy. I noticed that no one in supervision over me had any empathy to offer help. I completed my sentence in 2010 and have been careful to have no contact with young people at church or in public for over 16 years. I hope that I will be able to keep out of prison for the sake of my wife. I pray for the suit FAC has going on now to have very good results for all of the many who are in my condition. The officer did not catch this in previous registrations. It did not come to his attention until after the lawsuit was initiated.
Duane, thank you for bringing this to light and sharing your story. I’m sorry you and your wife are facing this fear and uncertainty. Buying a phone to stay connected with family and friends, then finding yourself facing charges over accounts you say you did not even know were there, is deeply troubling.
Your experience deserves to be heard. If you feel comfortable, I would appreciate an email sharing more of your story at [email protected]. We will treat what you share as confidential and will not publish your story or identifying details without your permission.
Thank you for your trust and your support for FAC. Please know that your concerns matter, and you and your wife deserve compassion.
There is no law requiring registration of internet identifiers you haven’t used.
If you yourself don’t even know they exist, how does law enforcement even know to tell you?
