Good thing to know the registry isnt punishment nor harmful in any way….again….if only the politician’s and those of the “just-us” system got to taste what their not punitive actually was like. I wonder if it would still have the same flavor?
Everyone commenting here has a facet of truth to their side. We are both hated, and yet, when forced, people will likely do the right thing. Politics be as it may, that could change.
That said, that doesn’t help the victim in this case. Thankfully it’s not every day someone on the list is murdered, but it’s a lottery in which we all have a ticket, but hope never to win.
We can’t opt out of this lottery, but we can keep people from picking us as the winner. Stay in shape, have good home security, keep defensive tools ready. It’s pretty simple. My hope is that the next idiot who tries this gets what’s coming to him instead, and that gets broadcast widely on the news. That may give anyone else who may be tempted to give it a try some second thoughts.
Absolutely right. I’ve been on the registry here in Phoenix, AZ for 16 years. I’ve had 3 or 4 legitimate attempts made on my life and or bodily security. I was attacked in my garage in 2018 and had my ear nearly severe, robbed and beaten about the head with a piece of pipe. A few years later a gang of about 10 thugs busted into my house with guns. I was messed up and given 24 hours to leave. The next day I was still moving when a van with masked gang members followed me around the corner and jumped out with pipes and baseball bats. One threw a bat at me which just barely missed my head. I was very lucky. A year after that my truck was set a fire while I was away and completely destroyed with all of my belongings. On another occasion a neighborhood woman stole my dog, Cheetah, which I had adopted 5 years ago and refused to return. She then falsely accused me of several sex related crimes and I was arrested and didn’t bond out for 3 weeks. I wore a monitor and had to go to court. Eventually the charges were dropped but I never got my dog back. Believe it or not there’s actually a lot more than this, including threats, gun shots at night, burglary and multiple small arson attempts, evictions with only 24 hours notice, zero police protection, zero housing, zero employment. It’s so extreme that even my family has abandoned me because standing beside me has become too dangerous and emotionally draining. Their minds are protecting them by refusing to believe my narrative. They rather choose to believe low level staffers answering phone calls at the men’s shelter that assure my family that it’s not as bad as I described. No kidding, loving family disbelieve when the truth becomes too dangerous for them and psychologically painful to vicariously experience. My narrative is anything but overstated. It’s actually so much worse. The only thing saving me is my unyielding determination to survive and endure and find my serenity within my own psyche. Peace unto you my fellow brother. May the wind be always at your back. J
