Our legislators, republican and democrats alike, refuse to recognize the empirical data regarding sex offender policy. All they continue to do is pass “feel good” legislation, which does nothing for public safety nor stop the cycle of abuse.
DEMAND EDUCATED AND INFORMED POLICY! ASK FOR THE EVIDENCE WHICH THEY BASED A NEED TO CHANGE THE EXISTING POLICY!!!!
This piece of legislation is absurd, in many cases it will be impossible to comply.
This bill changes the definition of “temporary residence from 5-days to just 3-days required registration. It also adds mandatory electronic monitoring and minimum terms of community control for registration violations if the court doesn’t impose jail/prison.
It punishes those who seek to visit family, do business or vacation in our state, just for being required to register for a PAST offense, whether you live here or not.
