Tomorrow, a senate committee in Alabama will consider Alabama Senate Bill 125, sponsored by Senator Cam Ward. Among other things, the bill would give Courts discretion as to whether or not a child should be subject to registration or notification as a sex offender under certain conditions.

Sen. Ward suggested that the bill is intended to “get those kids back on track before they become a serious adult offender.”

Currently, even children are added to Alabama’s sex offender registry, which makes it incredibly difficult to obtain an education, employment, housing and carries a multitude of other conditions that inhibit the ability to live a successful life.

If anyone reading this is in Alabama or connected with an affiliate group in that state, please post a comment to mobilize support for this bill.
