A bill requiring certain sex offenders to be chemically castrated before being released from prison has passed the Alabama legislators and is on it’s way to the governor to be signed into Law.
The bill from Rep. Steve Hurst, R-Munford, requires life-long chemical castration of offenders who commit sex crimes against anyone under the age of 13. The offenders will have to pay the cost of the castration.
Apparent Sickness
I’m beginning to think Alabama has more inbreds than floriduh does. Or either it’s a very close tie.
So now you cant get an abortion in Alabama, and now your gonna be castrated if you’re ADJUDICATED GUILTY of a sex crime with a minor under 13. Remember, you can be ACCUSED of this crime, charged and adjudicated and be totally innocent, but it’ll apply to you. With all the vindictive girlfriends and ex wives out there, this is a GREAT weapon for them to use now in Alabama if they wanna get back at their baby daddies and they have a child under 13. That’s scary.
And this is coming from the same state that fought civil rights and integration tooth and nail and the home of George Wallace. Their track record on human rights isn’t exactly stellar.
If this is how they’re treating people now in Alabama, can you imagine how their ancestors treated African American slaves back in the day when there was hardly any accountability in the court system back then? Disturbing.
Is Alabama closer to Canada or Saudi Arabia in its ideology and approach to society? I believe that if the people of Alabama could legally make the Bible, particularly the Old Testament, their only source of law (as in “The Handmade’s Tale”), the majority would vote to do so. They clearly do not believe in the United States Constitution, given the number of obviously unconstitutional laws they have recently passed. Perhaps Alabama would feel more comfortable seceding from the United States and forming their own theocratic republic. I say we let them go.
Alabama strives to main dignity and self respect ,you have no idea how people were treated in the past
And his original idea was for ” surgical “castration . Let that sink in and let you see what type of shit these people think of.
They really don’t understand the consequences that could arise if a law like this were to pass. And , not until those consequences impacted them or someone they cared about would they regret their actions and their contempt of everyone on the registry. According to them, we are all capable of unspeakable evil – if they support any type of castration they should be worried.
And the offenders have to pay for it ?? psshhh!
And nah! This can’t be retroactively passed ??
It’s insanity at its boiling point already.
They could bite my ass before I’d let them do that to me. The only way I can see it is I’d it is a choice made in place of a longer prison sentence. Are they planning on retroactively applying this as well?
Also, the only study is inconclusive.

Methinks they go too far.
Forced chemical castration? It’s hard to believe this is the same America I fought for in the military. America seems to be taking on more of resemblance to Saudi Arabia than a free republic.
Dumbest shit I’ve herd you rape someone you get 5 years and castration cause they had no real evidence and gave a “deal” so who’e gonna be the first to die from this…this shows how far we’ve strayed next it’ll be mind treatments and camera implants so they can make sure your not raping I’m glad I’m over the 1/2 way point in my life I’ll be able todo something better in the next one!
I see no mention of this in the source document. How far down is it?
Interested to know which offenders specifically would need to submit to castration, and under what circumstances. There are a number of remedies out there for minimizing the risk that someone will re-offend. But is castration even among them? Is there any evidence that castration reduces sex offending, or is the legislature going on intuition like they probably do with so much else?
And, like a lot of legislation intended to protect the public from sex offending, wouldn’t this one carry a number of unintended consequences?
OMG! My family member’s offense is against someone under 13. He never touched anyone and never has since. This could be Florida next.
Florida doesn’t always go the way of Alabama. I hope. And I don’t know whether the Alabama legislation is even ex post facto. I suspect that your family member is safe and will have the opportunity to work on their rehabilitation without having to worry about Alabama nonsense like this.
*(No offense to Alabamans on here).
this will fail when its challenged in court.
How is this Constitutionally viable? Is it applied retroactively? Seems this is a ripe case for legal challenge…
It says “before they are released from prison” This is physical punishment no way than make this retro.
we’ve tried to address some of the constitutional, legal and moral issues of this move by the renegade legislatures in Alabama in our latest article on SOSEN http://sosen.org/blog/2019/06/05/alabama-and-its-unconstitutional-chemical-castration-law-that-will-cost-taxpayers-untold-legal-fees.html
I think a lot of (most?) politicians should be chemically castrated. They’ve been fucking their constituents without our consent. Isn’t that rape?
