Just for the record, Carlsbad and Eddy county are in southeastern New Mexico, which is frequented by persons from west Texas.

And it wasn’t his registry listing alone that endangered him. It was the publicity over his alleged failure to register. Sheriffs sometimes use registration failures to show the media how they’re getting one off the street.

At this point, I really believe that only idiots and awful, hateful scumbags think that Registries are acceptable. How dumb does a person have to be to think that Registries are smart?

Law enforcement (LE) does love to brag about “failure to register” (FTR) arrests. As if they’ve done any work or anything useful. I think they do it mostly to stir up bloodlust among the simpletons to TRY to help drive more “support” and $$$ to big government and to the growing and growing big LE bureaucracies. That bloodlust doesn’t have to pay off immediately, LE just tries to keep growing it on a continuing basis in order to fleece taxpayers as much as possible in the future.

There is a “getting one off the street” component as well, of course. What the simpletons don’t seem to understand is that arresting someone for an FTR is an awful thing for society. It does nothing useful, but causes tons of harm. Even if the arrested person does not CONSCIOUSLY retaliate.

Arrested people MIGHT be “off the street” for as little as 1 week. Maybe a year or three, if LE gets lucky. Then guess what happens? The person is back on the street and extremely pissed off. Some of them to the point of murder. Which is exactly how criminal legislators and LE got 6 year old Christopher Barrios murdered. And others.

With FTR arrests, LE and the simpletons get their brief, extremely quick thrill and then that over. Then everyone has to pay the consequences. That is how the Registries work overall also.

Maybe the Sex Offender Registry should be renamed the Sex Offender Hitlist!
Perfect place for aspiring vigilantes: name, description, picture of their target, address. Some states even provide license tag number and place of employment.

It has already been renamed. I call it the “Registry Hit List” all the time. People who are listed on it are “People Forced to Register” or “People Registered for Harassment, Restrictions, and Punishment”.

If you want to get all official, it’s the “Sex Offense Registry”.

The Registries are 100% worthless. Idiotic beyond comprehension.
