As former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner’s criminal case is progressing through the courts, the government has announced they will be seeking jail time for Weiner, who engaged in sexually explicit texts with a 15 year old high school girl in order to solicit her for sex.

Weiner’s attorneys claim he’s now “reformed” and should not do time, but in a cosmic case of Karma, the prosecutors are citing co-sponsorship of a bill in January 2007 that requires sex offenders to register their email and instant message addresses with the National Sex Offender Registry.

Weiner will likely still get off (no pun intended) with a very light sentence of about 2 – 2 1/2 years (far less time than others who did far less than he did), but at least it’s good to see the lawmaker’s laws will come back to bite him.
