BIG WIN!!! Judge rules in favor of Registrants in GA Halloween Sign case!!!
A Federal Court Judge ruled Butts Count (Georgia) could not force persons required to register as sex offenders to post signs on their property during the Halloween season.
The 25 page Order, issued today, grants the injunction (preventing the Sheriff from posting the signs) with respect to the named plaintiffs, but fell short of granting the same relief for EVERY registrant in Butts, because the court found that not all registrants might object to the signs (yeah right) or there might be some that are actually dangerous. Still, presuming MOST registrants in Butts will let the Sheriff know they object to the sign, this is a huge win.
Below is a link to the order.

What I don’t understand is why they single out sex offenders wouldn’t released convicted drug dealers and murderers be more of a concern not all offenders had any connection to children
I fully agree with the judge’s reasoning here. But I’m at a loss as to why that reasoning wouldn’t apply to the registry as a whole. It infers the same thing as those stupid signs all year, doesn’t it?
I thought the exact same thing, Dustin.
The registry, and even some phone apps are there for the public to see and use, and to have them and their children to steer clear of those homes because they are being deemed as ‘dangerous to approach’.
It means the same thing as those signs.
FAC’s ex post facto plus challenge raises that very issue in Federal court.
Wonderful! And more to come!
This is great news. I wish we could get this done here in Florida. This time of year is so stressful for all of us with the news media trying to promote the idea that these signs are a great idea.
Praise be to the Living God!!!! It is so nice to know that there are judges of integrity still among us that do not regard the face of man or pressure of society. This is truly a great win!!!!! Praise God!!!!
Wonderful ruling!! Congrats to us all!
