Biggest “bust” in ‘Operation Twelve Parsecs’ is the operation itself.

In what is described as a “massive” five-day, dozen-agency online sting operation, the media highlights only 13 arrests.

The “massive” operation, called “Operation Twelve Parsecs”, involved a dozen local, state, and federal agencies, including; the FDLE, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Agriculture, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), the United States Marshals Service, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Gulf Breeze Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lake City Police Department. We’re not sure why the FDLE is even highlighting the results in a press release. It sure sounds like the operation itself was a big bust! 12 agencies, five days, only thirteen arrests! And for getting trapped in an online sex sting with a law enforcement decoy? It sure seems like the fish in Florida are no longer taking the bait if they averaged less than one arrest per day, per agency!

    One 18-year-old and two 19-year-olds will have their lives forever ruined and be banished from living in most places because the government tricked them into talking to a “15 year-old” on a dating app. Good going, FDLE and all the other agencies involved. You’ve made Florida a much safer place with these three dangerous “predators” now off the streets.

    How would all of those agency heads react if it were their 18 year-old son entrapped? I’m sure they would be outraged and talking about how there’s only a 3 or 4 year age difference. And what about the 18 year old? If a 25 year old had some relations with him a few months ago, then this “predator” would have been the “victim.” How does this make any sense?

      It’s scientifically proven that there isn’t much difference in mentality between their ages.

      The age diff you’re discussing falls within a Romeo and Juliet situation. A good atty would be able to bring this up in court and get it knocked, IMO. It is technically no diff than a senior and sophomore in high school

      And WTH is the FLA Dept of Ag doing here in this? Needing some extra funding?

        The Romeo and Juliet provision is not a defense to any of the offenses for which they were criminally charged. In their cases, it will only provide a potential vehicle for eventual removal from the registry, and then it’s up to the judge, not automatic.

      Seeing as how inhumane and senseless these “stings are” I honestly don’t think law enforcement would care if one of their own family members caught up in these stings. As long as the funding and overtime keep coming. Imagine being able to enrich yourself that much without solving any actual crime.

      @RM
      On you last sentence you said “How does this make any sense?”.

      Can you honestly give us one thing about the registry that makes sense? “Crickets chirping in the background”. I think the authorities need to write a Pamphlet called “How to navigate and understand the justification for the offender registries”. And hey, what about them having our backs by allowing us to have assurances that we will be on it forever, and even sometimes after we are dead. It is the gift that keeps on giving that nobody wants.

    The parsec (symbol: pc) is a unit of length used to measure the large distances to astronomical objects outside the Solar System, approximately equal to 3.26 light-years or 206,265 astronomical units (AU), i.e. 30.9 trillion kilometres (19.2 trillion miles).

    Who is the space nerd who thought this Op name?

      That’s what you get when you have cops that do nothing but troll the internet.

    Here is what I have seen… you must register your email and phone number, therefore, you get multiple text messages as well as emails from them. I have had many pics and messages sent to both of my registered contacts.

    One last thing, I am curious if they used adult websites in this sting. They make no mention of it

      I guarantee you they did. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the transcripts of the conversations were edited.

    There will be more arrests as they go get people who just communicated with the fake minor and didn’t travel. If you read through the charges and accusations, you’ll notice none of them are on the sex offender registry. Hmmm? So the sex offender registry failed again? They just went after those guys to replenish the registry
