The inspirational true story of Brian Banks (Aldis Hodge), an All-American high school football star committed to USC who finds his life upended when he is wrongly convicted of a crime (sex offense) he didn’t commit. Despite lack of evidence, Banks is railroaded through a broken justice system and sentenced to a decade of prison and probation. Years later, with the support of Justin Brooks (Greg Kinnear) and the California Innocence Project, Banks fights to reclaim his life and fulfill his dreams of playing in the NFL.

I hate to be wet blanket but when a person is exonerated for a crime they didn’t commit everyone cheers. When a former drug addict makes positive changes in their lives and tries to give back and make amends everyone cheers. When a former drug dealer goes on to become a business owner or even a music mogul everyone cheers. As for us we are labeled not as former but as if our crimes were committed yesterday or today because we are not given a chance to make life altering improvement and if we are there are a multitude of proverbial hoops we must jump through first. I’m glad the innocent can find true justice by having their names cleared but my concern is the guilty who just want a real second chance as well
” all you can control in life is how you respond to life ” I love it.
I will see anything with Morgan Freeman in it, even if its a small role. The trailer looks amazing and the movie seems Oscar worthy already. Hope many can watch this and realize that this type of thing can happen to anyone at any given time.
I do not know about the movie, but the Jacksonville Florida Times Union ran a story on it today, and it did mention in the article that in real life Brian Banks had to register as a sex offender.
I have been unable to copy the link, probably due to my very limited technology knowledge. But you can google: ‘Brian Banks’ tells the powerful story of a man falsely accused of rape.
Looks like FTU [jacksonville.com] has deleted the article. I guess showing compassion for even falsely-accused “sex offenders” doesn’t fit their narrative. Found it in the Washington Post:

Just watched the trailer. Great cast! I would even go see this alone. I commend those involved for helping bring this to the forefront, the dangers of this type of conviction, and repercussions. Unfortunately, I don’t see any indication of his involvement or discussion in the movie regarding the registry. I’m hoping it is mentioned and brought into the light as dangerous and severely life altering. Would love to hear feedback on this movie from FAC members in the next few weeks.
