Broward Sex Crimes Prosecutor Arrested for Shoplifting

Broward County Assistant State Attorney Stacey Honowitz, who has prosecuted crimes for nearly 30 years, was caught shoplifting from a Publix Supermarket in Aventura. She was a supervisor in the sex crimes unit.

The Aventura police released security camera footage showing Honowitz stealing approximately $40 worth of cosmetics. While her attorney claims she stuck the items into her purse and simply forgot to pay for them, she went into her purse to pay for other groceries and again to purchase a lottery ticket.

Nobody should be above the law – certainly not someone who prosecutes others for doing so.

” While her attorney claims she stuck the items into her purse and simply forgot to pay for them, she went into her purse to pay for other groceries and again to purchase a lottery ticket. ”

If I were a judge, I wouldn’t be able to contain my laughter. So she went into her purse to pay for other items after the fact, and she didn’t see the cosmetics that she already had put in there ? What’s next ? It was too dark in her purse ? or she thought those were her old paid for cosmetics ? lol. Or an amnesia defense ? Best thing now is to admit to your crime and let your attorney ask for leniency.

She probably get under the table gifts for other illegal prosecutions so why shouldn’t she expect the same at the supermarket.

I hope other stores in the area are searching their surveillance videos for evidence of other crimes by her.
