Citizen Sues Nextdoor.com

Arthur West, of Olympia Washington, was an active user of the Nextdoor.com app. That is, until they didn’t like what he had to say and then kicked him off the platform.

Not one to be silenced, West sued Nextdoor and it’s CEO, using the precedent from a landmark sex offender case, Packingham v. North Carolina, that held the government cannot block an individual’s access to social media – which is the modern day “public square”.

West’s argument, that in partnering with government agencies, such as law enforcement, Nextdoor is acting as a quasi public body and therefore cannot restrict people from it’s public square. This is precisely the issue FAC has had with the company and their policy of banning registrants and their cohabitants from their website. (see: https://floridaactioncommittee.org/fac-response-to-nextdoor-coms-reply/ and https://floridaactioncommittee.org/fac-letter-to-nextdoor-com/).

This is a case we will be watching closely and would love to participate in.

Absolutely. Should do everything in our power to gut their valuation by destroying their reputation in the eyes of prospective shareholders. Go out and make mayhem.

Ladies and Gents listen up. While I don’t know anythign about this “nextdoor” stuff one still has to remember the internet is an informational hi-way. Gossip here, gossip there or are we all guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt?

Guess one doesn’t think anymore or whats the big deal about nextdoor or Facebook or any other soap gossip, or snare trap. Talk about leading the wittness. Today its sue this or sue that because someone wants their way. Thats stink’n think’n. In fact many wouldn’t be in this registry ordeal if it waasn’t for this internet scavanger hunt or is it the possession that put some behind bars and screw up their facebook account and/or many other issues and not to mention ones reputation.

So who’s really wearing the mask today. Maybe this is a warning to wicked rulers or a game of truth or dare to others like some Evil Knievil stuntman striving to seek justice the wrong way.. Isn’t that what everyone is trying to do seek justice. I’m sure some of you all would like to spend your time on the internet in places like nextdoor, facebook, or some of the other talk and chat cornors but thats a weakness and can lead to danger.

Sure no one should tell others what to do or even force things on another such as in Florida schools today requiring kids to wear a mask today. I think many of us did fairly well without a mask or nextdoor, etc so . All one can say is stand up to big brother government and yes wisdom and understanding works if you ask. One can guarantee governments not gonna give one wisdom and understanding.

Next Door sounds like a bunch of adults bullying others and act worse than teenager drama queens/kings. I rather have a fish take dead skin off me than participate in that nonsense, but thatā€™s just me and my opinion.

It is. Thing is they get on their and make private groups. They use this to gut the reputation of people they are jealous of or a competing business whatever insecure petty bullies do. But, they prevent people from getting jobs and this is a financial issue. It libel its all kinds of things. Its also a violation of the terms and use conditions of app. Which is not being enforced by the company. That’s a legal issue. I know as I have a crazy neighbor who has been doing just this. Its amazing how no one will help you and the police are attached to this app.

I have been active on my local NextDoor for years. I’ve certainly enjoyed it, learned a lot, and shared even more (I’m a government nerd so have lots of local info). Many neighbor originally “met” me through my ND posts. Mostly, my local ND is convivial, informative & helpful and the vast majority of neighbors are pleasant, with a few rare exceptions.
But, alas, one day I will be “discovered” and booted off. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
    What can one do?

Every member of my family was kicked off nextdoor.com a long time ago (i.e. everyone living at my address). Even though nextdoor.com is an immoral, lying, scumbag company, a couple of us found it useful and wanted to keep using it. So we talked with friends down the road and made accounts from their address. We had many neighbors that offered us the same “accommodations”.

Frankly, since nextdoor.com told me that I cannot use their services they have guaranteed that I will always use their services. One way or another. I have thought of many, many ways that will always go around any restrictions they (or the criminal regimes) could ever put into place. They will never be able to block me. They’ve guaranteed it.

I’d encourage everyone to contact nextdoor.com often and let them know how immoral they are. They are not just immoral, they are incessant liars. Just read their website. You will see lies all over it about how nextdoor.com is for every member of every community. BS like that. I contact them frequently about it. Read their “help” web pages. They have a handy button on there for feedback/corrections. Their content about “including everyone” is definitely inaccurate and you’ll help them by pointing it out. They need millions of people doing that. They simply need to find a different way to word their blathering so it masks/hides their ostracization policies.

I’ve also thought for a very long time about filing formal complaints against them with government regulatory agencies. They are definitely running false advertising. That is illegal. They need to fix it. What else are they doing that is illegal? I need to care a little bit more and get those complaints filed.

Next door reminds me of high school cliques filled with bs drama; except the drama comes from adults and not teens. If they want drama watch Lifetime or try out for Broadway!!

Sue them is what one can do. With their censorship they’ve damage my business/income. My communication with some friends, have attempted to make me feel substandard (they failed at that). I’ve had a different perspective on COVID that doesn’t fit their narrative. They pushed it. I stand against it and get suspended. They suck! Yet summer pretty nasty people seem never to get suspended.

They censored me as well. They are on the same page as Facebook. You canā€™t post anything about vaccine injuries or election fraud. Do we have enough people for a class action lawsuit? I would love to set them straight on violating my first amendment rights.

I agree 100%. Lets do it. It has it’s hands on the mouths in every state. I could write a lot more, but I have taken screen shots, copied messages sent back n forth between Leads recruiting other Leads to take people down, shots of suspension messages including the bs they were for, and more. Lets do it.

I suggest any GEEK-A-ZOID out there to contemplate the same actions; Colonial had to pay millions in Bitcoins (another scam). ‘SCAM ON SCAM, SAM I AM!’

100 percent bs!! Same here, I was blocked because someone complained about a post. I asked them to provide evidence I committed an infraction and/or violated their TOS, they still have not provided me facts substantiated by evidence. I doubt that richy rich CEO Ms. Sarah friar gives a damn but if they don’t reinstate my account before October 2021 (their scheduled return date) I will scout our the CEO and write to her!

The Leads control the local sites and are free to do what they want including deleting any content they want to. The local site where I live has 2 leads, one is a moderator and they routinely violate the guidelines related to soapboxing, over posting and they dominate any posts related to any issue they are interested in. They are rude to anyone who disagrees with them and post long tirades as if they are shouting down the opposition. They also promote and try to send traffic to a private website they own.

I know of a woman who commented about all the dogs they left behind. She was banned for 30 days because it was not “friendly”. When she pressed their admin, they then said she had no proof it happened. She said she posted several links in her comment per the rules. The said that was fake news and misinformation. I think they’re trying to one-up facebook and twitter to be the kings of censorship?
