Coronavirus Update: Social Security Offices Closing

We have been alerted that Social Security Offices have closed. Many of you rely on government benefits. According to the SSA, benefits will not cease during this period.

The following is information from the SSA website:

Please do not come into one of our local offices. We cannot accept walk-in visitors at this time. On Tuesday, March 17, 2020, we suspended face-to-face service to the public in our field offices and hearings offices nationwide until further notice. This decision protects the population we serve—older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions—and our employees during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We will provide limited, critical services via phone, mail, and online, while we focus our efforts on serving people most in need.

Just got a call from my lawyer stating he was notified all pending disability hearings and rulings were postponed until further notice. I have been waiting 4 1/2 years and was scheduled for a hearing before a judge. He said with this backing up cases, it could be fall before I go to an in person hearing now, if not later
The $14 a month in food stamps the state gives me will saveeeee the day for sure.

Well is this what it will take to eliminate the FDLE SOR?

This is irrelevant to the FDLE SOR.

That is going to back up pending cases that were already taking 30-48 months on average to begin with to apply for disability.

Good to hear that benefits will not be stopped for those who cannot work.
