Couple accused of having sex on the beach face 15 years in prison.

A couple accused of having sex on a public beach in Manatee are in trial and facing up to 15 years in prison, $10,000 fines and becoming registered sex offenders.

They are not accused of predatory behavior or sexually assaulting someone, they are two adults that allegedly engaged in sex on the beach.

The act, if committed, is clearly inappropriate and should be punished, but are these the types of individuals who deserve a life sentence on the registry?

As the story was reported, it was also mentioned that the act was videotaped by one of the witnesses.

It just goes to show they need to get rid of the sex offender registry, if anything there should be a sexual predator registry for violent sexual offenses.. Or if there is a sex offender registry it should be limited to 5 years if you have no other crimes you can be removed. If you commit another crime while on the sex offender registry then you go on the sexual predator registry, just my 2 cents for what it’s worth .

Mr. Roger, shame on you. Logical reasoning such as that has NO place in the state of Florida! (tongue in cheek). Good post and good idea!! The most these 2 lovebirds should get is misdemeanor public exposure or something like that. What will it take to “liberalize” this state and get those Republican pariahs out of the state house????
