Crackdowns continue in sued jurisdictions
If anyone expected the machinery of enforcement to slow down while constitutional questions related to the registry are being litigated, the message coming out of Jackson County is unmistakable. It hasn’t.
On September 23, FDLE announced that it had partnered with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Corrections and Homeland Security Investigations in a three-day operation targeting people on the registry. The result: 21 arrests and 91 alleged registration violations. – 10% of the registrant population in that county were arrested.
According to FDLE, investigators contacted 101 registrants (50% of the registrant population investigated) and conducted verification interviews. The alleged violations included failing to report changes involving residences, vehicles, telephone numbers, email addresses and Internet identifiers, as well as allegations of providing false registration information.
And Jackson County isn’t an isolated example. FDLE’s own recent announcements show a continuing series of targeted registration-enforcement operations across Florida.

In Tennessee:
I have been out for 13½ years and I had to sign paperwork that said I could NOT associate with anyone that had children .. So, no friends who have children ..
Then, if I came into contact with anyone who has children, whether or not I spoke to the children, then I have to send a text message to my PO reporting an incidental contact ..
So, when I go to church, anybody I shake hands with or speak to, I have to report an incidental contact ..
I was told I could no longer sing in the choir because a couple of teens sing in the choir ..
If I came into contact with a parent/child in a store, or other business, I have to report an incidental contact ..
I had to get rid of all my pictures of my grandchildren (they were dressed) ..
She went through my phone and told me that I needed to report all the apps that have communication functions within them .. I was already reporting Gmail, Facebook, Messenger, and texting ..
But she showed me apps I had never thought of: banking and financial apps (to include Venmo, CashApp, PayPal, and Jpay) that have chats (I guess an AI chat bot is going to offer up its children to me); I am keeping my church app as it has a prayer request area in it .. AND game apps that have team functions in them (I got rid of those) ..
So, NOW, instead of just listing only what I was listing, I have to list all the other apps everytime I go into the office ..
And, I have to text anytime I put a new app on my phone computer within 2 days of doing so ..
As I said, I have been out for 13½ years and TDOC hasn’t been too strict on these particular rules; until lately ..
I had to remove/delete anybody I had become Facebook “friends” with if they had children/grandchildren and posted them ..
So, instead of searching EVERYONE’S posts, I deleted ALL my Facebook friends (which included family members) and then deleted my Facebook account ..
We are close friends with the neighbors across the street and they opened up a Russian/Ukrainian restaurant recently, and they asked us if we could help them, so we let them borrow $5,000 them get started; we’re that close (They’ve already paid it back) ..
They bring leftovers to us in the evening, but instead of bringing it to the door or leaving it on the porch, they place it in my BIG mailbox and text us that we have something in the box ..
They know of my past and know they cannot bring their children to my home ..
He is also an excellent carpenter and has done various carpentry jobs on my home ..
We had to tell them that they could not come to the house anymore because they have children .. It hurt us, and them, deeply because we were so close ..
I have had to do this to many of my friends and family .. I can’t even see one of my sisters because she has grandchildren that live with her; she can’t even come to my home ..
I had a group meetings, twice a month, in my home for people who had problems and needed to talk to friends/acquaintances .. In home therapy ..
I had to stop the meetings because four members had children under the age of 18; everyone knew of my past and NEVER brought their children to our meetings ..
So, instead of setting those members out and making them feel terrible about it, I just told them my PO said I couldn’t have the therapy meetings anymore ..
They got mad and said “it’s just not right” ..
All this started immediately after the investigations began .. 😡😡😡
That is a very strange condition!
Serious question, if I am asked to submit to a “verification interview”, how should I respond? I am not on probation, so can I choose not to participate?
You just have to show your ID
Seems like this behavior only enforces what we’re already saying. This hurts people in the short term tremendously. But in the long run this just helps prove the entire point of the lawsuit.
And is the DHS really necessary? For allegedly non criminal compliance checks?
Political posturing for reelection of sheriffs. Jackson county happens to be in a run off. Go figure.
