Jacksonville, FL has a law that prevents a day care from opening within 2500 feet of a sexual predator.

My belief is that none of the registered folks had any idea that the day care center was there. Fox 30 is providing a service so that all registered sex offender are aware of the new day care facility and an overhead view showing the sex-offenders the quickest path to the day care facility to avoid city streets. Well done Fox 30! The owner of the daycare did not want to speak on camera. Notice how the owner of the day care center was treated by the reporter the same way as someone who was running a tow-truck scam or accused of embezzlement and was included in the ‘hidden camera’ shot! How DARE she open a daycare center in that neighborhood! I suppose parents who live next door to the day care center are somehow more responsible if they leave their kids home unattended than in the same neighborhood under the care of this certified day care home. Also note when they pulled out the map it looks a little farther away than the description of “right around the corner”.
And just like that, the transitional housing provider can no longer house new residents, who have a heck of a lot harder time finding real estate than a daycare.
At the very least, the title could be reversed: Day Care Near S8xual Predators. Then the TV station would have to prove that all the nearby registrants were, uh, are s8xual predators, then prove that all the nearby registrants’ preferred targets are preschoolers, then prove that “stranger danger” clearly exists and is a (multiple) threat, then . . . .
By the time this gets done, and with more viewers having the attention span of a Macedonian fruit fly, it’ll be time for another s8x fear/scandal.
That’s about right there… Citizens of these “political subdivisions” are clearly non informed of the truth about the system they are subjecting themselves to.
Maybe they need to wake up from their “dream world” and come back to their first love…

I give the fly more intelligence than many people I have met or seen. That’s just what our country’s politicians want from its citizens, a bunch of idiots that will buy into any load of crap that’s spoon fed to them, and all to often they just eat it up. It’s what keeps this country under their control, and it’s regular citizens to remain clueless to the real agendas.
If approved, would it cause the offender to have to move or violate their requirements ?
They did that to me when they moved the bus stop to 50 feet from my front door. I said I wasn’t moving, the bus stop can move. When I went to the school board, I said ” The same kids play in front of my house all day, AND even if you move it, they STILL Have to walk past my house to get home from the bus”.
Exactly dude like the rest the day a pred could cross town Or state snatch a kid from anywhere but somehow they think SO are lazy and if they have to travel more than 1000-2500’ they aren’t interested such a joke.
Plus not everyone on the registry had an arrest for a minor. Could have been a homeless guy peeing in public. A girlfriend / boyfriend who wanted revenge and lied about saying no to sex etc.
And even those with an underage person, very low percentage were violent or snatch and grab.
Seems the public hears sex offender and they think everyone is John Wayne Gacy, the most famous predator in our modern times.
Given what I’ve read about Jacksonville and Duval County, I’m guessing they’ll grant the variance and tell the registrants there to move. Just because that’s probably against the law won’t stop them.
In a few months it will get so bad ABC will come out with a new reality show called Sex offender Island. Everyone on the registry will be shipped off to a remote island and be given some tools and some food and must build a new society far away from any other non registered citizens.
Oh and by the way, Once a month a boat with law enforcement will come by so everyone can Re-register and make sure no one has escaped. Anyone eaten by a shark will remain on the registry.
