Debunking the "Sex Trafficking" Lies

The Washington Post released an article entitled “The Biggest Pinocchios of 2015”, describing the most outrageous lies of the past year. Sex Trafficking statistics received a special honor on this list for just how clearly bogus they have been represented.

Fact checkers evaluated the veracity of several claims over the past year (mostly coming from politicians) to see what were the biggest lies of 2015 and here’s what they had to say about child sex trafficking:

There are not 300,000 children at risk for sexual exploitation. There are not 100,000 children in the sex trade. Human trafficking is not a $9.5 billion business in the United States. Girls do not become victims of sex trafficking at an average age of 13 years. The federal government has not arrested hundreds of sex traffickers. These were all false claims made in 2015 by politicians, advocacy groups and government officials.

for details on how the false statistics came about, you can read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/05/28/the-bogus-claim-that-300000-u-s-children-are-at-risk-of-sexual-exploitation/.

Also, it is nice to see these things being exposed but one thing they fail to mention is that it involves much more than misinformation – laws are created becasue of the faulty statistics that ruin peoples lives! For instance the International Megan’s law is based on human trafficking

Dan is absolutely correct and it is not just sexual crimes – the US Code has become an over inflated group of unconstitutional and civil right violations. However, in my opinion the majority of US citizens are not even paying attention to what is happening – until it affects them or someone they love. Unfortunately, it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. My 90 yr old mom sees it – she says it is like the beginning of when Hitler took over Germany. He made the people think he was going to help them and keep them safe …I had a feeling that when all this sex trafficking stuff became the “catch crime” that it was based on lies and it would seem my instincts were correct.

      Sounds familiar:
First they came for the Sex Offenders, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Sex Offender.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. -Niemöller

      History repeats itself, again.
