Equal justice for all? Hardly! Ex deputy gets sweetheart deal.

A former Indian River County Deputy who was arrested after soliciting nude pictures from 16 and 17 years old is getting offered a sweetheart deal by the prosecutors.

He was originally charged with one count of possession of child pornography and two counts of lewd computer solicitation of a child. If convicted, he faced a minimum sentence of 33 months in prison and mandatory sex offender registration.

Under the proposed deal, he would plead guilty to three amended counts of Possession of Obscenity Harmful to Minors. The state is offering a sentencing cap of eight months in county jail, followed by three years of sex offender probation and NO REGISTRATION!

Here’s a guy who used his position of authority to force minors to send them nudes!

Thanks to Eugene V. Debs for pointing out this news to us!

Yet 28 years later I and others can’t get off the registry? I wouldn’t mind the deputy getting a deal, however, where is our deal, grace, chance or a normal life or some sort of break?

I’m registered I get it I’m surprised a 19yr old can have a badge which I find dumb beyond belief. But in this one case I honestly do not have a problem with the sentence. Give a 19yr old a gun and badge I’m not surprised this is what we got. Plus the 8 months county is no joke county often is WORSE than prison. Plus he’s got 4 yrs or probation on TOP of that. I would not wish sex offender “therapy” on anyone it’s is mind numbing bs and torture and unless you have money to protect yourself from those people is worse than you can imagine he’s getting plenty

Too bad someone can’t go to his hearing and complain…

Whatever happened to equal justice under the law for all. Our sons can’t even visit us for more than 48 hours a year unless they register. And if for some reason, they are caught here without registering, they would be charged and likely convicted of a felony. that’s after 20 years on the registry in New York for having underage images on their computer, a misdemeanor. What this has done to our family is sometimes unbearable. And then to find out that this Sheriff is given a sweetheart deal is disgusting! Hopefully change comes sooner rather than later.

I am NOT for making it hard on the privileged, rather to reduce penalty for others!

No surprise to me. It’s all depends on who you know and how much money you have. Our legal system has never been fair and balanced. Its only getting worse.
