FAC Delivers Clothes and Donations to the Encampment
A very special thanks to those who sent clothing, shoes and other items to FAC for donation to the 250 people living at the railroad tracks. They were received and very appreciated.
Several bags of donated items were delivered to the encampment on Saturday night, which also gave the FAC Board an opportunity to assess the situation down there.
Unfortunately, not much has changed. The owner of Adolfo’s House of Beauty has taken down the carport overhang on 71st street that previously provided some semblance of shelter from the rain. Understandably, he doesn’t want a couple hundred people sleeping and going to the bathroom on his property. The summer has been a hot one so far and rains have been frequent.
The registered citizens were happy to learn that the ACLU has filed a reply brief on their behalf in the lawsuit challenging the SORR. At this point it’s their only hope of being able to return to their families.

I wonder how much one of those warehouses run for. I can’t imagine even in Dade County property values are that high.
Can they use small pup tents?
I’m sure – I think the best we can do now, for all, is support our legal challenges so that we can work towards abolishing these absurd restrictions.
Karen, Cheap tents will work, but they need tarps big enough to cover the entire tent, because they leak. Harbor Freight has good cheap tarps.
