FAC Named as Amici in Massachusetts Supreme Court Residency Restriction Challenge

The Florida Action Committee, along with the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center, Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, Massachusetts ATSA and RSOL, were named as Amici in an Amicus Brief filed in the Massachusetts Supreme Court.

The case, which is a constitutional challenge to the Massachusetts residency restrictions, is presently before the Massachusetts supreme court on the City of Lynn’s appeal after their residency restriction was already declared unlawful.

We are hopeful that the Mass. Supreme Court upholds the decision and residency restrictions are declared unconstitutional in that State!

Although the Massachusetts decision would have no bearing on Florida and would not serve as legal precedence in our State, we are hopeful that the more states’ supreme courts knock out the residency restrictions, it will have some influence over Florida.
