FAC Weekly Update 2025-04-16-Annual Letter and Donation Drive
Dear Members and Advocates,
If you checked your mailbox this week, you should have received a correspondence from FAC with our annual letter and donation request. Each year, we send written correspondence to all our members containing an update on the state of our organization and we include a pre-addressed envelope for the return of a membership donation.
Asking for your donation is awkward and uncomfortable, but unfortunately it’s necessary to support our operation and ensure our growth. This year we have and will continue to implement many exciting initiatives with your support. We suggest an annual donation of $60 (or $5 a month) to help sustain the organization. If you cannot afford that, please give what you can. Who knows? Even one dollar can fund one mailer and postage, and that one mailer might just reach someone who can make a larger financial contribution.
If you have not received the letter (or don’t receive one in the coming days), contact our membership team to ensure you are on the member roster. If you are unsure, please submit an online form to join. If you do not have internet access, call the membership team at 833-273-7325 Option 1. They will either snail-mail a form to you or take your information by phone.
Membership in FAC comes with many benefits. As a member, you receive alerts that will help you stay informed on new laws, court decisions, and legislative actions that affect people on the registry in Florida and worldwide. As a member, you are connected with a community of individuals and families facing similar challenges, offering emotional support, guidance, and shared resources. As a member, you can participate in efforts to reform harmful registry laws and policies. As a member, you receive help navigating complex registration requirements, compliance issues, and reentry challenges from experienced advocates. And, as a member, you are supporting an organization that, for more than a decade, has been fighting to change these awful, ineffective and destructive registration laws.
We recognize that, as a whole and because of the registry, many of our members are unemployed or under-employed. Therefore, the payment of membership dues or donation are not mandatory. However, as a non-profit we are entirely reliant on donations to support our efforts, and ensure that 100% of your donations go towards our mission of educating, advocating and litigating to end the registry.
There are many other ways you can contribute to FAC that don’t involve money. These include becoming active in one of our committees or calls to action. Assisting with letter-writing campaigns, or participating in public comment opportunities, and meetings with lawmakers goes a long way. If you worry you don’t know exactly what to do or say, that only means you need to educate yourself first by becoming more involved, and our teams are there to help you learn and speak up with confidence when you have the facts on your side.
To the extent you can afford to make a donation, please do. If you are one of the fortunate ones in a position to make a donation, please know that it’s appreciated and it will go a long way!
When you receive your annual letter, please don’t set it aside. Take action. Return your donation in any amount, offer your time and support, encourage others to join, become involved, and help end the registry!
Sincerely,
The Florida Action Committee

Just knowing that FAC exists is very comforting to me. And I feel I am paying it forward when I send my donation in. Thanks for being, there…here!
