FAC Weekly Update 2026-02-03-Ask a Probation Officer
Weekly update for February 3, 2026. This is recording number 352
Dear Members and Advocates,
Have you always wanted to ask your PO a question but were afraid or hesitant to ask? Now you’ll have your chance.
Please join us this Thursday evening for our Florida Action Committee monthly member call, featuring a guest with rare, firsthand insight into supervision and the registry.
Jeffrey Feldman is a recently retired senior probation officer who spent more than three decades supervising hundreds of individuals on the registry. He retired from a supervisory position with U.S. Probation, and before joining the feds, he served as a State Probation/Parole Specialist with the Florida Department of Corrections. Today, he is in private practice, working as a consultant and private investigator for attorneys and individuals navigating supervision and post-conviction related issues.
This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from someone who has been on the other side of the desk. During the call, we’ll discuss topics including; dealing with personality conflicts with your PO, early terminations, modifications of conditions, avoiding violations (or dealing with them), treatment and polygraphs, computer and electronic monitoring, transferring to another jurisdiction and more.
Whether you are currently on supervision, approaching termination, supporting a loved one, or simply want a clearer understanding of how the system really works, this conversation will be informative, practical, and empowering. If you have a question you want answered, please send it in advance of the call to [email protected]. We will try to get to as many questions as time permits and to ensure we cover as many topics as possible.
We hope you’ll join us this Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 8pmET* for this important discussion and take advantage of the chance to hear from a seasoned professional with decades of real-world experience.
Sincerely,
The Florida Action Committee

Will there be a recording of this call?
Can you ask this upstanding and squeaky-clean citizen of the U.S if in fact law enforcement tries to set up sex offenders? Thank u for ur time.
I am conflicted about joining this call. I honestly have major problems with the way I was treated by federal probation officers for over a decade. To be fair, one probation officer eventually asked the court to terminate my supervision early. The officer seemingly realized that lifetime supervision for a cp possession case whereby I followed every rule, passed every polygraph (even specific issue exams on being innocent), passed every drug and alcohol test, passed every computer check, etc. was grounds enough to request relief for me. I was shocked and certainly pleased by this given the obvious change in how I was being treated. I began federal supervision under constant threats of being sent back to prison and denied nearly every request for modification – even to attend church. For some reason, my supervision status went from “you will never get off supervision” and “we’ll just send you back to prison” and “tell it to the judge” because I maintained my innocence (a First Amendment Right) to “the US Probation Office hereby requests the supervision be terminated.” (Paraphrasing) So, one officer out of many finally did the right thing. What did US District Judge John Antoon do with the request? He granted it but sealed the record so nobody can see it without going through him.
We encourage you to join and listen.
